Busy Etsy Weekend....

Since Friday evening, Etsy and creating new items has dominated my weekend (well, with the exception of going to the annual Cranberry Festival...mobbed and taking an hour long drive to Whole Foods this afternoon) The weekend started off when I responded to a Etsy administration thread about this weekend being a sale weekend. I offered free shipping on my sea glass jewelry and I ended up being one of the spotlighted shops http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/etsy-finds-weekend-deals-october-18th-and-19th-2008-2752/ and that lead to a few sales, not sea glass, but I sold a couple of bracelets and picked up several views, shop & item hearts. Then I checked in on the EtsyNJ team website, as we have a big show coming up next weekend and about 50 of the team members will be among the vendors (the show organizers are both EtsyNJ members) and for the 2nd staright weekend, i go on the site and there's my bracelet. This time is my Ocean Mist creation and it's right at the top of the front page (yay!!!) http://etsynj.com/ So along with making 10 bracelets, a dozen pairs of earrings and a sea glass necklace, I did a sea glass blog and was asked to be a guest blogger on another Etsy members blog (writing about sea glass, of course). So I took a short break from my craft table, to come and do a bit of myLotting before dinner and then back to the table to finish a cobalt sea glass copper bracelet. Maybe I'll spend some time with my hubby and boys before heading off to bed...

I do have to admit, hubby does quite a bit of promoting for me. He doesn't last very long when he does (20 minutes is his limit) but I don't even have to ask him...he just goes and does it. He even looks in the paper for shows for me to do, fills out the applications, packs the car and helps with the table/tent set-up. He doesn't know it yet, but he's staying with me next Saturday at the fair and he's wearing a Halloween costume too. Now excuse while I go make him a cup of coffee and cut him a large piece of pumpkin pie... and sweetly ask him if he'll do the show with me next Saturday. Wish me luck Thanks for your response!!

Awww that is so sweet. That really takes some of the necessary but not creative work off you so you can concentrate on the creative stuff. What's the costume?

For him? Elmo. But since I like him helping me out, I'll let him slide with going as a beatup hockey player (I'd be willing to bet that's about the only thing he'll go as) But he'll have to wear some makeup to blacken his eyes and some fake blood all over his face. Maybe even a piece of needle and thread handing from his face or something. I'm going either as a cat or a fairy...lol!

I'm kinda happy because I really got a lot done this weekend and I won't need to spend every night after dinner making jewelry. But at the same time, my weekend is gone and I have to go back to work tomorrow . Hopefully the shows go well. Thanks for your comments!!

Sounds like you had an extremely busy weekend. So glad to hear your sales are up. Hopefully you will have a good viewing on Etsy around the holidays also. I've been working on an Elmo bank I'm making for our grandbaby who should be here in a few days. Am not finished with it yet but that's ok since a tiny one doesn't know what a bank is or what goes in it. Our daughter knows it's in the making and isn't in any hurry. I'll take a photo when complete and post it on myLot. Am using a plastic Folger's coffee can and simply slit the lid to use as the top of the bank. It should turn out cute. Much success with sales, carolbee

Yep, we will make the first deposit with a bond. I can imagine sales are down since the economy is a mess. Just maybe people will spend for the holidays. Guess you can only hope. Your jewelry is so pretty.

That sounds like a very cute bank! I guess grandma will making the 1st deposit too? It was a busy weekend, sales are still a bit slower than last year. The quantity of sales is lower, but I'm not listing as many lower priced items as I had last year either. I will be doing a few more shows this year than last and I'm still trying to play catch-up with my inventory levels. I made a lot of new sea glass bracelets, a few sea glass earrings and necklaces. I hope to have everything finished by Tuesday night...hopefully! Thanks for you response...it sounds like you're going to be very busy in a few days
