What are the criteria you look for while chosing friends in mylot?

Do you add people to your friends list randomly or do you look for specific criteria like,gender,age,nationality,before adding as friend? Do you delete friends from your list if you are not happy with them?
As for me,the only criteria I look for is good comments....If I am happy /satisfied with a person's comments or discussions,I go to the profile,glance through it,and immediately add him or her as a friend.If the person is of same nationalilty it makes me very happy,if the person is of a different nationality it makes me even happier to have him or her as my friend......

I am also like you, I just see the comments and responses of a member and how effectively he or she has expressed herself/himself. If any discussion or response appeals me, I immediately send a request for add to that person. Nonetheless, before sending a request I do not forget to check his/her profile. Likewise, when someone sends me a request for add, I just check his/her discussions and profile. I have noticed sometimes, very young members say 16-17 years of age send me a request for add, which I do not feel like accepting, because I feel they cannot contribute everytime to some serious discussions. I periodically review my friends' list and if I say that anyone of them is not responding to my discussion or vice versa, I do not hesitate to 'delete' their names from my list of friends. I wish to have those friends, who remain 'active'.

But tell me what the disadvantage is by accepting the friend's request, if he/she is so young. My thinking is, if I can help her/him by way of responding to their discussion, I think it is really a help. But according to Rose you are expert here so no arguments with you.
Regarding deleting friends I don't get much time to check, who is responding and who is not. So I am just leaving it.

Yes Sree...even I dont really mind having younger persons just in their teens as friends..Mostly they are here for advice,and I know a young friend who joined mylot to improve his English.....I like helping them.....
But Dpk here is also like these youngsters always seeking advice and complementing every one...he...he....Thats why he tries to shoo them away.....

Ah Dpk,after crossing over 5000 posts,such expert advice from you is highly commendable,especially for people like me who are on 102 yet...he..he....I will borrow some useful tips from your discussion....and thanks a lot for the same....And yes I will always take extra care to respond to all your discussions,lest you delete me from your friend's list.Many tahnks for the hint.......he..he.....

i just noticed that u have touched three digits at my lot and now having 102 post
but the thing amused me is the RED star. i know u were waiting for star to appear after 100 post, but were u expecting RED star with rating 9???
Anyway, thats really great, glad to see it and happy for it
it shows How Popular u become in such short span of time and i think its would be hardly few examples that person start star with red color

Hi Cupid, I am joining with you to congratulate Rose she crossed 100 and got a red star with 9. I don't know she expected a high rating but I was sure about the same. You know why, I got the same when I crossed 100 and her responses and comments are faaaaar better than me. So it is quite natural my thinking.
Rose, Hearty congratulations to you for crossing the three digit number with a high rating. I know you must be very happy. Keep it up the good work.

Hi Rose, I like to give everyone a chance and nothing matters to me except good content. If someone is new here I try to respond to their discussions as often as possible to help them get started and give them some confidence. Gender,age and nationality mean nothing at all to me when accepting a friend,as far as I'm concerned we are all one and we all have something to teach each other. I have learned a great deal here about customs in others cultures and religions, and I consider myself a better person for it. I am pleased to see that you think much the same way. I would like to add just one more thing, I am 69 years old and I have yet to find someone too young for me to learn from. I admire our young people here and think that it's great when we can learn from each other. Blessings.

Sure on Mylot its most of times Comments who get ur attention andd then i decide to add them as friend, , I most of cases i received friends request that some one wants to add me and i just accept that. i check the profile after that
Well, i added few friends as i like their names/ids and some cases pics too, oopppps
Well, i do delete friends , but its not based on their comments, but its coz they added me but then stat unactive for lonf time, then i delete them.

hello cupid.....thanks for your comments....Its good that u delete inactive friends in your profile..here is a tip there is an inactive person in your profile with a yelloy rose as avatar....perhaps if you delete that your profile will become less clustered?

Normally i get request so I add them randomly. I very rarely send friend's request. The reason is that I'm already puzzled with my friends list. And I have recently caome to understand that most of my frineds are just in the list only. Most of Them neither bother to reply nor participate in discussions those I started.
So, my 1st priority is now to delete most of the friends from my list. Then I'll send request to those who either starts an interesting topic or send good replies.
But I won't consider gender etc.

When I send out a friend request, it's usually based on the person's comments and discussions. I do not bother too much about nationality then.
But when I get a friend request, I most often than not...add them.
Once in a bluemoon (when I get the time), I go through my friend list and delete those friends who have been inactive for more than 2 months.

hi Mithra.......When ever I get any friends request, I accept it.....I just have a look from which country the person is just for my knowledge, because as you know I love to comment in Hindi, so if a person is from India, I take a note about it. Till today I have accepted all requests and have never deleted any request as there was no need. I think it happens naturally that we get closer to person with whom we interact more and more as we are attracted to him or her through the comments made by them. Comments show character of a person and the way both go along decides if they can go from friends to best friends and so on.........I am thankful to mylot for having some wonderful friends in my life.......do I have to mention any names.........you know everything.

His Rose, I am with you. When I found someone's discussion or comment interesting, I check his/her profile then add as my friend. Sometimes I am adding those who respond to my discussion. I am not bothered about the nationality. If I am getting any friend's request I add them after checking the profile. I never deny any friend's request.
I appreciate you to come out with this discussion because I have seen some discussions, in that people are getting irritated to receive friend's request. I don't understand why they felt bad while receiving a friend request. Mylot is an open forum for making money. Of course we are getting good friends also. So far I am comfortable with Mylot people so I can't say any reason to deny any request. I never delete any friend till now. But I deleted 25 friends requests yesterday which is made by me one month ago and so far those people never shown any courtesy to either accept or deny the request.

Hi Rose, Where were you, I was wondering, your discussion is very active in between Cupid and me but you are absent. Finally you reached the place so I am happy because leader should be there otherwise....
Thanks for reminding me about the mylot codes, I already started using but sometime I forgot the same.
Regarding the pending request, I read it somebody respond to a discussion stating that, the particular person has 80 friend's request pending and, is not even bothered or checked the same. Another one wrote that he is not at all checked the PM or friend's request. Let them do what they like. That is none of our business to interfere. To be very frank after reading that discussion I deleted my pending requests.

Hi sree I was very busy yesterday,though I managed to log in now and then...he..he...And Sree, you come across all types of people in mylot,so its better to stick to the ones you are comfortable with.....And here is a tip,make friends one at a time,and get to know them.That way they will stay with you,rather than inviting many people to add as friend.....ok....and have a nice day.....

Hi Sree.......You are not only with me...,but also you ARE like me in every aspect as far as choice of friends is concerned......
Oh I did not know that people get irritated over getting friends request.....May be they are not fully at home in mylot and do not realise that the more friends you have ,the merrier as far as mylotting (and even outside it ,fo that matter)......is concerned.
Yes and its quite natural to delete pending friends request after a long time......But mind you ,this happens due to two reasons...either they are not interested in adding new friends,or they are not checking their profile and hence did not notice the request...If the latter is the case,and you have already established a good rapport with them ,then it will be good if you give a hint to them about it while exchanging comments.That way you will not lose a prospective ,good friend.....

Hello Mayka,Like you I too accept friewnds if I like their comments.But I am careful whn accepting a friend request..I first cheque the profile and add as friend.......I have not rejected any friend request so far,by the way.........

You did not get the cake??? I thought I gave it to you! Probably Cupid must have come and taken it away to give to his daughter....Its his daughters first birthday today and he is just keeping quite...not giving us a treat....why isnt the NARI EKTA COMMITTEE doing anything about this??? Anyway here is my cake...make sure it does not disappear!!!

And yes cupid has disappeard with the cake..he is very selfish and secretive.......Yes I know its his daughter's birthday today,and I am very angry with him.......He celebrated it SECRETLY at home a week back........Can you imagine.I guess he was worried that we will all drop in on him uninvited.....Any way he has proved what a good and reliable friend he is.

I think he is absolutely right, and even if I was in the place of him/her I also do the same thing and my criteria will also be same of making friends. But I will be more happier if my friend is out other nationality. Some times I randomly list my friends but if after some times I do not like him/her then I will delele them from my friends list. This is no matter for me that my friend is of which country or of which gender and age. If his/her comments will appeal me I will think about him/her to make them friend.

I don't usually invite members to be my friend... but if they respond to my discussion with such quality... i wouldn't have second thoughts in inviting them... i do not have any criteria... in accepting or inviting as friends... since we really get to know people here through their discussions and responses...
I only delete those who have not been active for quite sometime... and they only have less than 100 posts next to their name... i do this to make room for other friends who are quite active here...

Yes aseretdd.....You are taking the right path as far as chosing your mylot friends are concerned...It is important to get to know the friends one is chosing because establishing the right rapport,goes a long way in setting up a favburable atmosphere for interaction....

as for me, i don't have any criteria as long as the person added me to be my friend then ill accept it! i am not really a choosy person, i accept everyone who adds me. i love to have lots of friends and love to know each of them too,!

I don't select people who invited me to become a friend, i just add them, i feels good that a lot of people are interested to become a part of your list, which eventually become your network of friends...

Hello there, in adding friends to my friends list her ein mylot. Im not really particular of the age, gender and thier nationality. Everytime i have a friends request i added them right away. The important is they are going to share thier ideas and thoughts and also responded to my discussions. Happy posting.
