By McCain's definition we must already be a socialist country

John McCain, hanging on as tightly as ever to that "spread the wealth" tightrope, said in a recent rally that spreading the wealth...taking from one group to give to another...is something other countries do, not this country. While McCain continues to keep the subject tightly focused on refunds, let's not forget some other examples of taking from one group (the taxpayers) and giving to another. This is by no means a complete list of other groups your tax dollars support: The Social Security Administration The Veterans Administration Veterans Health Administration Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) United States Department of Agriculture Armed Forces Retirement Home Army Corp of Engineers United States Census Bureau Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Central Intelligence Agency Coast Guard Department of Defense Department of Education Department of Health and Human Services Department of Homeland Security Department of Housing and Urban Development Environmental Protection Agency Federal Aviation Administration Federal Communications Commission Federal Student Aid Food and Drug Administration Internal Revenue Service Treasure Department Missile Defense Agency NASA National Guard National Institutes of Health National Transportation Safety Board Occupational Safety and Health Administration Peace Corp Railroad Retirement Board Small Business Administration Special Education and Rehabilitative Services The idea that the taxes one person pays goes only to those who do not pay taxes in the form of refunds, that it is unfair and unAmerican to pay taxes, is ridiculous so I thought I'd put things in a little clearer perspective. In our next class we will focus on how Joe Sixpack won't be able to afford that liver transplant he'll eventually need because that $5,000 credit won't be nearly enough and no insurance company will touch him.

Well, the clock is ticking...LOUDLY! This tax thing has been bothering me for awhile because it's been so misrepresented on so many levels.

Speaking on taxes have you looked much into the actual laws? There is no law that states the average worker must pay income tax! Also, the majority of those business are funded by other tax sources such as sales tax, gas tax, energy tax, service tax, toll roads...etc.... A recent study was done by lawyers and constitutional rights defenders. They claim that none of our income tax pays for any of that. ALL of our income tax goes directly to pay off government debts. So the tax rebates and refunds are really going back into the hands that paid them...we are ALL taxpayers, even if we collect social ssecurity, welfare, government commodities...whatever....our money is still being spent on fuel for our cars and heat for our homes clothes for our children and that occassional fast food treat.

There's a guy at work who's trying to wage that war against paying income tax based on exactly what you posted. He tried to have the payroll department stop taking out federal tax (we don't pay state tax in Florida) but was refused so he now has 10 exemptions on his income, the limit they would allow. I don't remember what his plan is for April but I guess he'll let us know.

Don't forget all the local fire and police departments. Those are all 'socialist'--everyone chips in, and in return we don't get a bill when we call 911. Would anyone want police and fire departments to be limited to the towns that could AFFORD them?

Good points, wish I had remembered to add them because they are definitely so important to every community.

And lets not forget streets, bridges, and habors. Or we could always go back to the horse and wagon thing but, that would help with the energy crisis. lmao I'll be waiting for Joe's liver transplant
