http://cbs2.com/local/Sarah.Palin.mannequin.2.849299.html Is it okay for a mannequin of Palin to be strung up on a noose? I can only imagine the kind of outrage that would come out of this if it was Obama that was being portrayed instead. If you think this was okay to show, do you feel it would be okay if Obama was being portrayed this way?

No, it isn't okay. It is horrible no matter who is being portrayed that way.

As I said in another discussion about this: It may seem unfair that there is more outrage when it's a 'black guy' in a noose like that, but on the other hand, it is also unfair that a lot more REAL 'black' people were lynched and huge in that dark period of American history, so I think the different perception is understandable. It's in poor taste at best, but again, also as I said before, I'm surprised people weren't more offended by how McCain was depicted, rising out of flames, which implies he's supposed to be Satan or a demon.

No, it isn't one bit "OK", in fact it's outrageous and would be equally outrageous if it were one of the other major players in this campaign. If it had been Obama, would Jesse Jackson or other African American leaders have been "in an uproar" or whatever words another poster here used? Of course, because as another poster said these kinds of imagines of black people were far too prevalent throughout our history. That doesn't make it any better or worse for it to be portrayed today. The first I'd heard of this story, probably because I wasn't home much that whole day, was on that horrible liberal Keith Olbermann's Countdown; on his "Worse Person In the World" segment the young man who was responsible for this was the WORST person in the world for that evening. He was as outraged about it as he would have been had it been the Democratic nominees' likenesses depicted in such despicable ways and I agreed totally. Annie

If that was an image of Obama in that noose, Jesse Jackson would be bi*ching and moaning on every TV and radio station in the world as we speak...George Bush would probably have to give him some more of our taxpayer's money to shut him the hell up...
