Did you know it is a good idea to have more than one browser downloaded?

Firefox - This is the logo for Mozilla Firefox.

The reason being is that if your Internet Explorer becomes corrupt then you have another way to browse the internet to be able to repair your IE. There are many different browsers out there. Here is a short list: Internet Explorer Mozilla Firefox Netscape Opera If you do a search in google you can find the download for any of these browsers for your computer. You do not have to use any of them as your default browser. It is just an excellent idea to have more than one browser on your computer at a time. You may find you like a different browser than just Internet Explorer this way as well. I work as a software tech support person at a major computer company and we always try to make sure our customers have 2 browsers on their computer for troubleshooting.

IE I have been unable to use for a while because it will not connect. I have used FF for a long time. I installed Netscape and used it for when FF was acting up on me, but then It stopped functioning properly and I got a message that Netscape would no longer be supported. I discovered Flock and I looove it even better than FF. Flock is from Mozilla the same people as FF. I love it because it not only lets me use FF extensions but it lets me Stream favorite pictures and videos, It remembers my favorite sites, Email, has a people side bar to keep track of what my friends are doing and tons of other stuff.

Yes I enjoy the plugins as well. There are a lot that will help one to keep protected such as Keepass that generates secure passwords randomly and keeps them in a database on your computer for you.

I agree to the idea, i have to internet browser in my computer, i have Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox, i use Mozilla most of the time, for the reason that i watch movies online and it only works in Mozilla. And also the good thing when you have many internet browser in your pc is that the time i consume on the doing research is lessen. I use the two browser at a time.

You should try using a different browser just to see if there is another one you like better. Besides it makes you learn more about your computer that way.

I have two browsers up on my computer which the usual is IE but I have downloaded Mozilla Firefox which is the one I have been using the most since I think is better than IE. Firefox has a lot of things that IE doesn't have and it also has spell check and many other things that make it a lot better. My IE is good and all but I prefer Firefox.

Yes I have been hearing a lot of people using Opera lately. I just downloaded it again today after I did a complete wipe of my drives. The reinstalling after you delete your drives takes a while when you have a big computer.

I have two browsers on my computer too. I have Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. I have two browsers because there is one site which my husband frequently open but it can only be opened using Internet Explorer. I like using Mozilla Firefox more than Internet Explorer though, so I rarely use IE. Last month I sent my computer for reformatting because there were virus in it. The computer technician advices me to install at least two browsers too.

Yes most of us techs recommend to people that they should have two browsers installed. It's just safer. That is why I started this discussion so that more people would know this bit of advice. Thanks for your reaffirmation of this fact

Hello SketcherD. I have three browsers on my computer, Maxthon. IE and Firefox, but I use Mozilla Firefox most for its excellent features though I also use IE, but I don't like to use Maxthon as it is new to me. It is on my computer because of the system. Yeah, it is good that we have some more than one browsers in case we can use another one when one is corrupted. Thank you for responding to my new discussion, friend. Good day and take care.

I didn't know it's a good idea to download more than one browser. I don't see the point too since I haven't had any browser trouble since I used mozilla. But I do have IE just for memorabilia's sake.

That's funny to think of IE as memorabilia. I bet they wouldn't like to hear that. LOL

I have 2 browsers on both of my computers as well. IE and Firefox are the 2 I use, however, I have Firefox set up as my default browser. I just like working with it better. Granted, there are times when certain things won't work for me with Firefox (such as some adobe files), and so I'll link to them with IE.

Yes I know sometimes each of them have their issues but that is why I suggested having the two browsers. Then you can always use the other one to get to the site you want.

I think I have two on my computer, I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox not too long ago and thats what I've been using, I still have IE downloaded, and sometimes I have to switch back, because I've noticed some websites don't work with firefox, especially if your trying to play online games, they won't work with it, but I also found that firefox is alot faster than IE, our computer has gotten faster since we've been using it.

i don know if it is really true or not...but i had read on d internet that if u use both ff n ie in the same time while surfing....it will open a hole for the hacker.. what do u think about it??? is it really true???

No I do not believe that. I have been using both IE and Firefox together for a long time and have not had a problem. I can not see a reason why this could open a hole for hackers. Using both browsers does not do anything to your computer except open a different way to get to the internet that it seems most hackers or virus creators do not use to get into your computer for the most part anyway.

Very interesting idea. Sounds good especially with all the problems with IE and microsoft. My pc is down cause it crashed when I tried to install some updates. I'm using my hubby's laptop which has Firefox and I like it very much.

Do you know the name of you Internet Service Provider's, which is ISP for short, browser that they use? I know that most of the ISP's use IE. I am curious as to which browser your ISP could be using. I have never heard of an ISP using their own browser. I am however well aware that ISP's use their own websites as homepages for customer's to set up on but they usually use IE for that purpose.

Yes, I found this information out the hard way! IE in my personal opinion sucks! I am a major firefox fan now! I do still have IE but I never use it. I have not tried netscape. I should find one more other than firefox and IE. Thanks for the info.

I am probably the only person left on the planet that like Internet Explorer. I find on some sites it loads faster than Firefox, probably due to the way it uses the cache or something like that. I have tried other browsers like Opera which version I used was o.k. I tried Safari which is o.k. Netscape kept crashing, and I tried the Flock and others but I presently use Firefox almost exclusively as I have a couple of extensions that I use on it. Rarely now do I use Internet Explorer.

Yes, i agree with this idea of having more than browser in our computer. Yes, because sometimes internet explorer may become corrupted, for this reason we have to go for more than one browser including internet explorer. We have other browsers like mozilla firefox, netscape opera etc.

Good luck with that. I hope you never have a problem with IE and it won't let you go onto the internet at all. I am only suggesting this to folks so that they can have a backup system and not get stuck not being able to get onto the internet if or when IE becomes corrupted. I worked as a software support tech at two different companies and know all too well how often IE can become corrupted and then the person cannot get to the internet to repair IE themselves. It can become costly if you need to take your computer in to get it fixed. This is just some good advice my friend.
