What a Bummer!!!

I won a 4 day 3 night trip for two to the American Music Awards including plane trip, limo, hotel... all worth over $4,000. Had to decline because my husband has military orders and on top of that didn't really want to pay the taxes on it and then all the extra money you know you would spend on a trip like that. I really wanted the second prize... An xbox pro for my husband. But they were not offering any substitutions. Oh well, someone else is very happy I couldn't make the trip. I'm not much on rubbing elbows with the stars anyways.
One nice thing happened to lessen the blow... my 46 inch HDTV I won a couple of months ago finally arrived!

That is a bummer. No girlfriend or sister who could go with you instead? Would have been really cool. But yeah, it would have cost you some money too!

I'm terrified of flying too and could only do it with my husband... really the music awards isn't anything I would be interested in anyways although visiting and seeing LA would be neat. But after the taxes and the money I know I would end up spending I'd come back I'm sure in some debt when my husband and I have been doing all we can to cut every extra to get completely debt free. Our goal is that this coming Feb. If it was Hawaii or Alaska I'd go in heartbeat! Couldn't say no to that, but I would hope that it wouldn't have a set date that I have to worry about. The Military is my husband's career and he loves it and he's trying to work his way up to Officer. That comes first.

That is too bad. But I understand your husband's point of view. I think that I would still want to go. Anyways at least the TV got there.

Most times if it's something I can't use they work with me especially when I say that we're military, but this time they couldn't. I really think that they should call the people for the grand prize first before giving out the second so if you can't take the trip you can still get something. It's just not nice, but so goes life. Sometimes even when you're lucky you're unlucky.
