It's time to start thinking about Christmas Crafts

I run a daycare and always make something for the parents for Christmas with the kids. This year I have 2 yr olds and babies. I usually like to do something with their picture on it. Any new ideas out there? Something that wouldn't be too hard for a 2 yr old to do with my help?

It sounds like you are very organized. I was thinking of doing fridge magnets with the daycare kids, but I think I did them with the 2 yr olds older sister. I hate to repeat a gift!

Rather than a picture, use a hand print. Use salt dough and let the little angels press their precious little hands into it. Then dry and glaze. Trust me, the parents will look back on it and go "oh they're hands were so small."

I've done the handprint before with this 2 yr old..last year. That is why I was going to go for a photo one this time.

I don't know about pictures, but when I was a kid, we made little Santas out of baby food jars. We put eyes, nose, mouth and cotton beard on them (eyes, nose mouth and a hat on top were made of felt and the hat had a cotton ball on the end and cotton around the edges,) and the top would come off of the jar to hold candy and stuff.

This is a cute idea and would be fun to do. I certainly have baby food jars that I could use.

I don't have a new idea...but some others that are easy. My daughter in law and I went to home depot and got pourous tiles...I think 4x4....and we did my granddaughters hand prints on it in paint...we also did our handprints then hers over it....I know thats and old idea but we are going to use them for stepping stones in our gardens next spring.....also another craft is at Michaels and JoAnn's they have these clear ornaments....you get some folk art paint and squirt some in and they twirl it around, mixing the colors and make their own ornament....they turn out beautiful...put a little bow on top....and it's a wonderful gift for the parents....and one the child can be proud of even when they are two!

I love the ornament idea! I am going to check at Joanns this weekend. I was thinking about the tile idea for mothers day, since it will be in the spring. I have seen them before and think they are so cute.
