It Should End in Zero or in Five

I don't have a quota for the number of posts/responses I make on myLot everyday. I just simply start a discussion and respond to one if I feel like it and whenever I can. But I have this habit of always wanting to leave mylot at the end of every visit with my post number (the one next to my avatar) ending either in 0 or 5. If I'm at 433, I should stop at 435 or 440. If I'm at 801, I would stop at 805 or 810 and so it goes... Do you have a similar issue with your post number here on myLot or is it just me?

Freak! I am not quite so focused on ending in a zero or a five but I don't like leaving my post count on any number that includes a six! If I am in the 60's then I will power through until reaching the 70's etc. God knows what I will do when I reach the 6000's! lol. I think at that time I am going to have to go on a mylot bender.

What's wrong with 6? Why don't you like the number 6, James? 6 is not such a bad number. I hope you've prepped yourself appropriately and enough when you reach the 6000's although right now, it looks like you have 3161 posts. What's up with that?

This happens to me all the time. I just wouldn't call it a day till I reach a round figure, either ending with a 0 or a 5 as you have put it there. It feels good to see myself at a round figure. Its like accomplishing something, completing some task, a feeling of fulfillment. I think our mind sets are such that we feel happy for things that may appear petty but is enormous to us. It's all about it achieving targets and a nice, presentable one.

Nah, I've never done it with my post number, but I do it with page numbers when I'm reading or writing, and other stuff as well. When I was pregnant with my daughter I spent the entire pregnancy trying to come up with a name for her that would add up to 8. By the time she was born I still hadn't succeeded! But is this kind of thing 'obsessive compulsive', or is it just very precise thinking?? I vote for thinking, hehehe.

Hehehe, yeah, me too. I hate it though, when I have a delicious book that I am REALLY enjoying reading and I want to savor it and make it last for a week or two, but then I can't close the book and end up reading the whole damn thing in one day!

We can re-read the book again and see if there's something we missed.

I think you once told me something about the number 8 and now I forgot. I'd go with precise thinking too, and the need for completion! PS - I can read a book in one day if I'm really into it. I can drop everything and just go through the pages. But then there are also times that I can only go as far as two pages.

I do about the same thing. I just come on & start a discussion when I can think of one. I try to ALWAYS comment to every response. Some days I seem to have discussion block. Then I look at discussions friends have started. Then I pop around all over the place looking for interesting discussions. Sometimes I look at my last discussion & try to go to every respondent's discussion to return the favor. Sometimes I go to the "No Response" Tab & try & find one or more to answer. Sometimes I go to the most popular tab. Sometimes I go to the "New Member" Tab & work from there. I jump all over the place & find different interesting discussions & new friends. I do my BEST to stop at the "0" if I'm anywhere near close. I will go to the "5" if I have too many left to get to the "0". I have fallen asleep at my keyboard working to get to the "0".

So it's not just me! Yippee!!! Where you upset the next day not because you fell asleep at your keyboard but because you didn't make it to 0? I haven't done that but I always, always try to get there. On a bad day (meaning, no interesting discussions for me), I always have trouble with this habit since I just have to make it, if not, I feel like I didn't do much. Thanks, LadyM.

NO, you're NOT the ONLY one!!! I'm used to falling asleep at my keyboard. YES, it bothers me that I didn't make it to "0"...especially when I made it to "9". You're right...some days it's extremely difficult to go up even 1 post!!!

Some days, I find myself at page 10 of every category looking for discussions that I feel like answering. Nine is way too close to a 10. It's like being second at a race. I'd rather be third than second. Hahah. Because I almost won if I was second. If I was third, then I would be happy that I made it!

You don't have to, red_a. It's just me and some of my tendencies. I think you should myLot your own way and for as long as you want and however many posts you want to put out there. You enjoy too.

That is a clever way to motivate yourself and make posting here more interesting. I don't even look at my numbers most of the time. I just type as fast as I can and try to get through all the notices. If I don't have time for all of them, I make sure to reply to the discussions started by people who are faithful in replying to my own first and then the ones that are easiest to answer and then the most interesting. Sometimes the others get deleted...oops.

What? You delete discussions? Like I've never done that, well, I've ignored discussions... oops. I'm just happy you always find time to reply to mine. Always appreciate your input! Thanks, drannhh.

Oh that is interesting, unfortunately I don't pay much attention to my number. I suspect I will do the same as you do now...

I hope that my letting you be aware of your post number doesn't do you any harm. Sometimes I get a little stressed out if I don't get them 5's or 0's. Thanks, creative genius!

WoW it's just doing mylot in the most enjoyable way, I just learned that, Thanks for the idea. I never count my posts in a day for as long as I respond to interesting topics and post my share of discussions, I'm fine for the day. Thanks again!

I don't really know if it's that enjoyable, mjmlagat. Sometimes it's a little stressful because I need to go out but I can't seem to leave myLot just yet because I'm two posts down or something like that. I don't really count how many I do a day, just as long as they end in 5 or 0. Enjoy myLotting then!

Hi anne! Yes I do try to do that to! But unfortunately there are some nights or should I say early mornings that I just can't find just one or two more discussions to answer or I just can't keep my eyes open another second! I thought I was the only one with that crazy "secret" system! Do you think that there are alot more of us out there? I wonder! I had not thought about it before. I just thought that it was me and my own little craziness trying to end with the 5 or 0 just to make it easier to remember where to start off the next day! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that if anyone else would have thought of it that it would you my dearest friend! Another thing to add to our list of things in common!lol

Judging from my responses, there are a few of us here who do this numbers game. Although I don't do it so I know where to start the next day. I just want it done that time, right away! But like you said, there are days when you can barely find a discussion of interest. That one, I take longer. We do have a lot of things in common, Opal.

Hey rkrish. Now I know there's a lot more like us here. I think my average responses would be from 10-20, 30 is on the higher side for me. Well, keep on myLotting!

hi Oh yeah, exactly that's what I do. I either finish it off with 0 or 5. If anyone finds me with the number of post indicating at end not a 0 or 5, it implies, i'll surely come back. May be I have to quit for something temporarily or may be my net connection is got snapped. Even if when I want to take a break for a cup of tea, I try to end with 0 or 5. I don't know why it's so. But I just like it.

Hi there! I don't have any goal or issues regarding the number of post I have to make in a day. I just start posting and don't stop until I feel sleepy. In my regular days I make around 20 responses. If I make more than 20 much better but I'm satisfied with 20. Ciao!

Hi SaintAnne! I don't have a quota here, but I wish I can start one new discussions in a single day. But that doesn't seem to happen at all. I also have a habit here on mylot but a little bit different. I just don't like the last number to be 6 and 13 any number is fine apart from this two. I remember when I reached 600 posts I did my best to get out from that number, lol.

So you believe that 6 and 13 have some kind of supernatural negative hold on them? Is that why? I know for a lot of people, 13 is an unlucky number but some people love it for the same reason. I try to start a new discussion every day and I think I start at least 2 a day but when I'm a little slow in commenting back to the responses I get, I take a day off and make sure all or most of the responders get their comments. Thanks, CJay.
