Thumbs up!!

I was a thumb sucker as a child my friend, probably why I have got stubbly thumbs now LOL! I can't remember when I gave up sucking my thumb, probably when I was seven or eight, I know a late finisher! I don't see anything wrong in sucking thumbs, having comfort blankets, teddy bears etc.

hi humbug.I never did this .but i have seen children doing this .Thats really difficult to disourage them from doing it.But i think as they grow up they stop this. Happy mylottting.

luckily me and my siblings never sucked thumb nor did my kids.but i have seen my cousins sucking thumbs and also ill-effects of it.usually the teeth become protruded and they have to put wires on their teeth to prevent it from protruding further.

My daughter is a thumb sucker but lately she seems to have outgrown it.

it is not a polite manner for the man or the woman.sucking the thumb makes people sick or hatry.it lets us know you are a dirty guy .what a bad man.so i wont teach my childrens to suck thumb.

Hi Humbug, i was a thumb sucker upto 5 years(think so, need to get clarified from my mom). Well, there is a hurdle to your curiosity i'm not sucking my thumb still! I have brother, when he was as a child he didn't suck his thumb but had an unique style of holding his lower lips in his mouth while sleeping! I kept on pulling his lower lips out often ;) I'm single and right now i don't have any idea what my kids will be doing!

I was never a thumb sucker however I do bite my nails often. I have remained with this vice since I was a young child. However my friend's children both suck their thumb. © ronaldinu 2008

I'm not sure when i stop sucking my thumb. i know my lil sister stop sucking her tumbs whe she's 2 years old. My mom always warn her when she start sucking and change it with something made from rubber (my Mom buy it from baby shop) or a bottle of milk with rubber on top of the bottle so it will be okay if she drink or bite it. Doctor said it's normal if baby do that, they thooth grow up and this is make them want to bite something. Nah, My big sister have new problem now, she have a baby 7 month ago and the baby didn't suck her thumbs/finger, but suck her feet!! oh my..she was really cute baby

Hi Humbug, I never sucked my thumb and nor did any of my three children, although I was told to give my eldest a dummy as she was a sucky baby I never did and people at the time said she'll suck her thumb if you don't. She never did bless. The only child that had any comforter of any kind was my younger daughter and she had a necklace that she would hold in her hand and twiddle with to get to sleep. Huggles. I never was a thumb sucker Humbug but my daughter's friend (19) is. It drives me mad. She sits on the sofa the thumb goes in her mouth and AAAGH. I don't know why it bugs me so much. She's a very sweet girl. But it just looks so silly. I suppose that there are worse things.

I'm a strange one - I never sucked my thumb as a child - I had a security blanket though which I think I did used to suck.. Anyway as a teenager and even now (I'm 20) I have a habit of chewing the skin aroun my thumb nail, normally when I'm under pressure or deep in thought. Like when I'm stuck in an exam. Not sure where this habit came from but I've gained it from somewhere!

I was big on thumb sucking when I was three. This resulted in me needing braces and now my teeth are fine. I don't plan on doing it anytime soon again and I don't understand what the pleasure of that was!

Hi Humbug, I've never sucked my thumb nor have my three kids but my eldest sister did but that's all I can remember really and the nasty sore mess her thumb was all the time but didn't seem to bother her, she's 40 now and thankfully I don't see her ever with it in her mouth now..lol

My cute little cousin is fond of thumb sucking. She even carries with her her favorite teddy bear while she does her hobby. Her mom even placed a sour paste so she stops sucking her thumb but this cousin of mine, like me, was very clever. She washed her hands with water and then she was smiling to her mom and flashing her cleaned thumb on her mother's face. So funny!!! ^^,
