Remember how Sarah Palin and the repubs were all "barack obama gets more airtime on the news, it's biased" well here's the thing that really annoys me about that... The news was constantly running stuff about bill ahers, but they covered the whole thing about how sarah palin and her husband were in some club to make alaska it's own country, for about five seconds in the middle of the day on a tuesday when most people aren't watching the news... I think she should have stopped whining at that point and said "thanks" cause it looks pretty bad when you want your state to be it's own country, then turn around and go "just kidding since the chance at running this one just fell into my lap" sorry... needed to rant, cause it still drives me nuts... you too? or am i crazy?

" sarah palin and her husband were in some club to make alaska it's own country" Because It was Only Todd Palin that was a member back in his youth, Sarah was not a member. The group you speak of was a cessesionist political party, alomst every state has one with it in one form or another. the state of vermont actualy has a clause in it's state constitution that calls for a cessesion yey or nie vote every 50 years in the vermont legislature. the state of Oklahoma was preparied to call for cessesion if certain executive directives were implimented a while back, I believe it had to do with national ID.

That's because after running that story they quickly found out it was a lie and were forced to retract it. Sarah Palin has ALWAYS been a Republican and never changed her party membership at any point. Her husband was previously a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. The original founder of the group was a secessionist. That is true. The party's goal now is to focus on state rights because the federal government actually owns the majority of the land in Alaska. They also feel that Alaska deserves/deserved a right to vote on its status to decide whether it should be a state or territory much like Puerto Rico was given that right. Either way, her husband left that part a long time ago and is registered as an independant so the issue was moot even in his case.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that they are now considered the Alaskan branch of the Constitution party. I remember you saying you were voting for Chuck Baldwin so I thought you'd find that interesting.

Exactly. It is no different the the group I started, the New Hampshire refederation Movement, states rights and constitutional upholding.

Yeah, what he said! really, TSKR and XFAH were right, so nothing more to say... But y'all know I like to ramble on so here I go! Basically, they sent "troops" up to Alaska to check into Palin and the end result was they couldn't find anything of real value. Even the troopergate she was just found not guilty of anything, by the independent panel that is supposed to investigate such charges. And even the panel that was started by her Democratic rival couldn't really say she had done much wrong... They even tried to say that McCain had not "vetted" her properly, but actually they did -- and when they called her to set up a meeting to discuss being VP candidate, they knew all about her, even back to how she voted on specific items while she was a city councilwoman! Obama, there is so much staring us in the face, and yet no real searching into his background. No in depth questioning or in depth research. No checking into the many incongruities of his history and his speeches. However, the Center for Journalism which follows and keeps track of journalistic trends and statistics and such came out with their report before the election: MSNBC was the worst offender, but the other mainstream media were almost as bad, around 65% negative for McCain and the same amount positive for Obama. Fox news was the only one that came out even, 42% negative for EACH candidate. Also, yesterday, a reporter for the Washington Post came out with an editorial explaining that it was true that the media had pushed for Obama's election and had been easier on him, including her own paper.

No, I don't think you're crazy but it seems "picking on" poor Sarah isn't allowed here. The fact is she spoke before that secessionist group but I'm sure about 99% of the voters had never heard about it but it was fine for her to tell those at her rallies that some parts of the country weren't part of the "real" America. I think out of everything about her, that's what ticked me off the most. Clearly she had no desire to be the Vice President of ALL of us, only those she considered to be "pro-American"! Annie

That I remember it was her husband and not her. ANd it was a while ago when he was young. A lot of people are like that, all over the country. As the pervious poster said, all states have poeple that think its state should be a its own country. As American's we are pretty hypocritical about the whole states declaring their independence issue. Kosovo declared its, our government recognized them. When states within the USSR declared independence once again America fell all over itself to recongize them and their right to independence. States have declared their independence all over the world and our government cheered them. But if someone with in the US says it about their state within this country then they are horrible and crazy. I am NOT saying our states should declare independence. I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of our stance on it. The whole "that is great as long as its not us" thing is just stupid.

I may be wrong, but weren't the states in the USSR declaring themselves independent to restore themselves back to what they were (independent nations) before the Soviet Union formed?

not sure I will have to look it up. What about all the other ones we have recognized all over the world?
