Do you love or hate noise?

Children are noisy, there's no question about it. Whether you have 1 or 5, you're going to deal with noise. My kids are super noisy. They yell and scream and fight all day. They're good kids, but their noise level is ridiculous. I spend the whole day trying to quiet them down, and it never works. Even if I get them to start reading, they all read out loud instead of to themselves, which is better than screaming, that's forsure. Sometimes I don't mind noise, depending on what kind it is, but when it gets to a certain level, it starts driving me nuts. I can't stand arguing, whining, or screaming, and they tend to do that a lot. I usually have to split them up, but that doesn't last long because after a few minutes they forget that they're supposed to be in seperate rooms, and end up wandering back to play or fight with each other. Even when I put them to bed, they will continue to talk to each other, and noise travels very well through this house. I can usually hear their talking over the TV. Many times they do more than just talk to each other, and they'll get quite loud. I'll usually have to make a few trips upstairs to try to get them quiet until they finally fall asleep. But they tend to forget that their noise travels, so as soon as I leave the room they start again, not realizing I can hear them. You'd think since this is a daily routine they'd eventually figure it out and quiet down a bit, but not my kids, lol. Do you mind it when your kids get noisy? Do you try to give them quiet things to do, or just let them be noisy?

I've gotten pretty good a blocking out most of the noise. So for the most part I don't mind it. My girls tend to fight a lot lately or torment each other so that one comes crying. I send them up to their room, but they decided to share a room now so they still fight up there, I just don't have to hear it as much lol.

My husband can block it out too, but I can't. I think I do sometimes, which is why it's so hard to quiet them when I want to, because I'm not being consistant with it.

I don't think that I could take the noise at this level. The yelling would drive me insane. My friend brings her son over to play and he yells and screams so much that I am so glad when they leave! Have you spoken to them about having an 'indoor'voice as opposed to an outdoor voice? I don't have any answers but it looks like your husband could assist you in getting then to quieten down at bedtime. Good luck!

My kids are terrible, I have four but one is more or less grown now so it just leaves the three little ones. They make an incredible amount of noise and my daughter has now developed this amazing scream she does and it makes me want to strangle her and then the boys fight and fall out and shout at each other. When all three of them go at it I could walk out of the house and never come back no matter what I try they never shut up they just go on an on and on!

elephants - herd of elephants - my kids lol
My daughter Lu is almost 2 she can be noisy at times. My friend and her babysitter comes over and gets my daughter going - they run around the house screaming just because! That gets to me! But when Lu is playing with her noisy toys it doesn't bother me at all. In fact at grandmas house there is a drum set, Lu loves to play it so I think for Christmas she is going to get one. That kind of noise doesn't bother me at all. My two step kids are 7 and 11 they don't fight or anything so again there noise is more running around or toy noise. The worst is when any of the kids are upstairs and run around it sounds like the ceiling is gonna cave in!!! I think my daughter the youngest and smallest makes the most noise when running around! They sound like a herd of elephants!!!

I can't stand noise. My kids are always driving me crazy with the yelling and screaming and carrying on. I have not learned to tune it out yet. When it is only one of them around it is not bad, but put them together and it is like world war 3 all day every day. I should invest in some ear plugs.

It's the same here. Any one of my kids on their own is a perfect angel. My oldest sometimes will try to talk about sports, but other than that he'd be happy just reading or playing on the computer or something. My daughter is the one who's notorious for reading out loud, I don't think she knows how to read quietly. My other boys will just spend all day rolling cars around the floor. But put more than 1 of them together, and all heck breaks loose.

Noisy! Are you kidding?! It drives me crazy. I have a 4 and 6 year old and they don't stop from the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night. When I finally get them in bed I just sit and enjoy the silence. Even when I get them involved in a project they don't quiet down. I try to get them to be quiet, but it rarely works.

Yep, that's my house too. There's nothing on earth that will keep my kids quiet, except maybe the TV, but I don't like to let them watch that very often.

I hate any loud noises. I try to keep the kids quiet but it doesn't work either. They're too young to get it. I've had severe ear infections all my life so my ears are sensitive to noise. I try to block it out but sometimes I have to send them to another room to get away from it. I don't mind the loud talking it's the yelling and screaming and crying and banging of toys and stomping on the floor.
