Where's that Holiday Feeling?

Is it just me or is the holiday feeling not here yet? I mean i am doing my holiday shopping and all of that, but I am not having that holiday feeling. That excitement that come when picking out the perfect gifts for your loved ones. I don't know if it is the fact that everything cost so much now and you are not getting much for your money. I am not sure what is really going on with me, but does anyone else feel this way, and why?

I've been in the spirit for a week at least as you can tell by my avatar. I'vce also added a photo of my house lit alreadt too below in my response. I am worried about money etc as well but it is the season for giving. No matter in which way one gives. All the kids and grandkids know that the gifts won't be as nice/valuable as before and they don't mind either. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We need that Bull to start running again ... $$$ - We need that Bull to start running again ... $$$ (Stock market Bull)
We have entered some hard times with the recession and all, I'm sure things will bounce back soon. When the economy is back to normal, I believe peoples spirits will be back to normal. It's sad to say, however Christmas has become and probably always has been so commercialized.

i think you have a point about that. people are scared to spend money not knowing if they are even going to have a job. and with the cost of everything now it is just so high. i think change is coming soon enough and i can't wait

Holiday Lights - My hpouse is lit for the Holidays way early. But the snow makes it so pretty.
I am the complete opposite. As you can tell by my avatar I am REALLY in the Christmas Spirit. In fact seems I've spread the cheer around my neighborhood. I did a discussion about that as well today. I also have decorations up outside and have even had them turned on. Here's a shot of them after a light snowstorm we had. That snow fall really boosted me into the spirit. Now look at me in my hat and say I am not in the mood for the Holidays. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

No, it's not just you:) I'm not feeling it yet either. I just noticed that we are closer than what I thought, and it scared me because I haven't thought of it at all. In my case I suppose it is the fact that I am thinking about so many things at the same time, worrying about so may things at the same time... I don't really know what it is, but I'm still not in the spirit yet.

I am sure you are not the only one feeling that way. As it is, the crowd at major shopping centers have thinned out as compared to the same period last year. I can actually walk into a shopping center without having to bum into people with shopping bags and uncouth aunties who thinks everyone has to give way to her. Going shopping now is actually pleasant! But like you said, even with the decorations and the festive music piped thru the shopping center's sound system, the mood is just not there. Like something is missing. Just cannot put the finger on it.

that's just it. something is missing and i am not sure what that is. i know money is low for most of us, and i am not sure that's my problem. something is missing, what is it, i have no idea

Probably it is the mood of the period. With the gloom in the economy, many people are just not in the mood to shop. And when there is no jostling, no competition to grab the same item with another auntie who is shopping for her family, the... well, mood and maybe fun, if shopping is just not there. Or maybe it is something else. Just cannot put a definitive finger on it.

My Holiday feelings left when the Real Estate market took a turn for the worse. I dont think anyone is too much in the holiday spirit with credit and mortgages in a crisis. It would seem that we may have to revert to the real meaning of the Holidays: Sharing and Caring and appreciating life.

I have it a little bit. Most of my presents are bought and wrapped. I only have a few things left to get. I think I am already irriated and sick of it. I mean Christmas has been displayed in the stores since October and the carols are playing in stores and on the radio, decorations are already up. Its here for so long now that we really don't have the spirit month any more. Does that make any sense!? LOL I know what I am trying to say but I don't know if I am saying it right! ITS BEEN A LOOOONG WEEK! LOL

I got into the spirit two months ago! Got my Christmas shopping done already and just waiting until I return from my Thanksgiving vacation to put up the lights and decorations. I've been thinking about giving the neighbors something to talk about and putting up lights now! Stan

Yes I know just what you mean, I think its because so much is going on right now the economy is so bad its a scary feeling to know your job can be lost tomorrow. I know I'm at a state where I feel I should be saving rather than spending but I know when that time comes around I will be trying to get my loved ones all that I can. :o)

it is an uneasy time. I know there are so many people out of work right now. i have been there so i know how crazy that can make you feel. i am so blessed to have a job that i really like and i know i will have for as long as i want it. but my heart does go out to those who don't have that comfortable feeling right now.

Hi momma! No you are not alone! Everyone seems to be feeling alot like that this year! It is because of the way the economy is and the way everything feels. There is such a feeling of not knowing how the world is going to be, how we are going to cope in the year to come, if the economy will pick up, if the job market will increase, if the stock market will increase. It is such a terrible time for everyone. The feeling of unsurity is taking the fun out of the holiday season. It is no wonder that people are finding it hard to enjoy shopping and spending. I also, for me anyway feel that it is just a little early for me to get into the Christmas spirit. I don't usually start feeling the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving. But, if my mood doesn't start to change I don't know if even that is going to help. I sure hope it does though!

It is too early yet. If I was king of my country I would make it against the law to do anything about Christmas until December 1st. It is a month and a half yet almost so there is lots of time yet. Ask again a couple of weeks before the actual holiday. Did I say it is too soon yet?

i find the holiday is very exciting and funny.Maybe i can climb the mountais in the suburb or do sports in the Sports Center or shopping in the business center. So what i want to say is that we should enjoy life, not desire.
