I like them. But do have afew problems with them. All the thinsg are donated to them free of charge. They will charge an outrageous price for something. But if not sold. They will bundle the crap up and sell over seas for pennies on the dollar. Where than than re sell it at high prices to their people. I have no problem with people making money. I do hwoever have a problem with people screwing others to obtain it.

The only thing I know that they do which is good, is help out disabled people. They will hire people as employees who cannot get a job in the regular work force. My ex-boyfriend's sister was mentally challenged, and she worked there so long that she was able to retire. I thought that was good. She didn't work in the retail store part, she worked in the warehouse. I guess where they separate things, or send them through the steamers. This is not a difficult job, so someone like her could do it very easily. I have heard of them taking clothes that they couldn't sell and selling them to factories in big lots for shop rags and stuff. Some of the people were upset about this, because they thought they should have been donated to the needy. I guess you can look at it from both sides of the fence. They need the money, but they did get the stuff for free so why not donate it. Thanks for starting this discussion, and welcome to myLot. Have a great day!

yes they hire disabled people, but thats about it, when you read the brouchures in the store they say all this money they make from your donations goes into training for jobs, but the goverment pays them so much money for each person they hire plus they get tax brakes for every felon or disabled person who is hired! if things are donated they should be redonated not sold for more money in some guys pocket, what about the needy

I don't like Goodwill either their prices are too high and they have really high prices on the things they think are antiques that they put under the glass counters. They sell name brand stuff for brand new prices, you might as well go buy it new for the prices they have. They say they are non profit give me a break! They profit off of things they sell. I don't go to their stores anymore I will go to places like Saint Vincent De Paul and Salvation Army. The garage sales in the summertime that people have in their garages are the best way to get a good deal.

Maybe they are trying to help the community by creating jobs and open more stores in the near communities. I don't know how will they manage the inventories of theirs, but they do collect second - hand clothes and electronic stuff from people who wants to donate them. I don't know whether I like them or dislike them.
