I've been watching this show from day one and Grissom is one of the major reasons why I watch the show. I hate that he is leaving. I never heard why William decided to leave the show, where he has also been an executive producer. I am not a big Lawrence Fishburn fan, so I find no appeal in watching the show because of him. I do not foresee the show lasting long with many of the original cast gone. Lately, CSI NY has been the better of the three in the franchise. While I like David Carruso, I can't stand how his character (Horacio Caine) is portrayed - always wearing sunglasses, awkward angle stances, seems like he's 'talking down' to others, rarely does any of the his CSI work (whereas the other CSI leaders get their hands dirty frequently).

He is leaving because he wants to act in the theatre. He will continue to be the executive producer though. Its not because he was mad about the other CSI shows. That was a long time ago.

i know he was threatening to leave for a year or more because he was so mad about them making other csi's and thought they made the plots not as deep and interesting etc.. but what finally broke it off im not sure.. they prob got tired of fighting with him or something.. but he was right.. i dont like it when shows have spin offs because a lot of the time it just ruins everything.. i never watched the other ones though.. couldnt get into them

I understand your sentiment on this.....they all are a great team together but losing Grissom puts a big damper on the show. However, if rumor is true, he will still come back from time to time, as will Sarah and.....drum roll....Warrick?!

Warrick's return will be posthumous, so I guess we'll see some creative work from the writers. You can see the article at eonline.com.

I was SO BUMMED when they offed Warrick..but I can see why they would with his real life issues etc...You're right too, Gris really does make the show and I'm SO NOT a fan of Fishburns at all..I dunno if I'll keep watching or not...only time will tell really

He's the reason why I watch the show, in fact I wanted to see more between him and Sarah. I like Fisbourne as an actor but not sure if he will suit this character. We shall wait and see. I'm going to miss Grisson though because I also think he MADE the show.

Fishburne will be bringing his own type of character to the show. He won't be the same as Grissom. No one is. It will be a matter of how well he gels with the cast and the audience.

Well, that would leave catherine running the show. Hmm... seems like they are removing all the characters from the original cast. Reminds me of the series NYPD Blue. The only one left in the end is Sicpowicks! Most of the other characters are leaving the show one by one. I wonder who they are going to bring in to replace Grissom. I sure hope it is not the fella who stood in for him during his sabatical in the previous season. He is one boring fella to watch!

Hmm... Lawrence Fishburn? That would be interesting. I would probably stick to the series till it is too boring to watch. His deadpan face and his monotone voice to replace Grissom? If they give him good one liners that are memorable, he may just be the fella to replace Grissom. I wonder what kind of ending they are going to give Grissom. Will they kill his character for good? Or put him on some self discovery trip that may signal his return to the series some day.

Another great discussion btought back up but since we got to see part 1 of a great show last week and get to see the conclusion this week..i like Lawrence Fishburn but since he's more of a movie actor i wonder why he took this job?..hate to see the originals go but maybe due to the economy they couldn't pay their high wages to them anymore?

i was thinking the same thing about fishborne.. i know the actor that does grissom has been upset every since they started spin offs nad complaining that the plots were shallow so i dunno if he got sick of it and left or what

I might watch it to see how it goes. I will most likely watch because of Catherine, Nick, Greg, Doc,David,Brass and Eckly. But it will not be the same with out Grissom. They say he will make some appearances though.

thats cool that he may make appearances later on.. it might hold the show going a little longer if every one is wanting to bail with him (the viewers)

This is a very good discussion because I am sure there are a lot of people out there who like the show CSI and they enjoy watching it a lot,and try to never miss an episode of it,and I am sure there are a lot of people who did not like Sarah and Warrick leaving the show, and were not sure if they wanted to keep watching, and I am sure there are a lot of people who would not want to keep watching the show when Grissom leaves, and then I am sure there are people who watch the show every once in a while, but are not avid fans of it,and do not really care if Grissom leaves the show or not,and I do not blame you for not wanting to watch the show once Grissom leaves, and I do agree that will only leave Catherine Willows and Nick Stokes and it would be hard for them to carry the show, and I used to be an avid watcher of CSI when I was younger, and I always watched it because I loved watching them use the evidence to prove who did it,and it was always fun guessing at who I thought did it and then finding out if I was right or not,but now that I am with my fiance we have so many things to do that we do not have much time to watch television, and I was sad that Sara Sidle left, and then when they Killed off Warrick Brown it made me even sadder and I kind of stopped watching the show, and when Gil Grissom leaves it will be the last straw and I will not watch CSI anymore even though I have been watching CSI Miami and CSI New York but if Horatio Cain on Miami,or if Taylor ever left New York I would stop watching those shows too, because Grissom,Caine and Taylor hold the shows together and no one could do as good a job as they do,and without them the shows are not worth watching anymore.

I stopped watching when they killed Warrick! For that reason and the fact that I stopped watching CBS after the MOONLIGHT fiasco. Haven't watched any since.. maybe I will see them in syndication... maybe.. lol

While I agree that William Peterson as Gil Grissom is very important to CSI he's only leaving to do other acting for awhile. He's still going to be involved and probably even on the show here and there. I am going to remain open minded and give Laurence Fishburn's character a chance. I believe that everyone at least deserves a chance to demonstarte what they can contribute.

honestly the only reason i watched the show because OF Grisom. I don't think his replacement will be able to carry the lines the way this actor did... you know the illogical logic of his lol... so no i'd definitely lose interest in the show after they send him off the show.

I will still watch it, but there won't be much more left to watch, maybe one or two seasons. Grissom's departure means that CSI is jumping the shark.
