Dont U think mylot should give us an option to edit our discussoins & responses?

I think mylot should give us an option to edit our discussions and responses so that we can make necessary corrections/ changes after we have submitted our discussions/responses. Almost all the forums has such option and i think mylot should also have it.

Yes, I agree it would be a good idea to be able to edit our discussion after uploading it, but perhaps that would take a lot more work to set the site up to do that. What I tend to do is to write a discussion in Wordpad first (or other text editor - not word processor because the result can be strange). I then cut and past the discussion into myLot.

Actually, an edit function would not be at all difficult to set up. Many forums have one, though none uses quite the same interface that MyLot uses.
MyLot is essentially a database system (as are most forums) and editing a record is completely feasible (it would simply load the existing record into the entry box that we use already).

edit function will not be that difficult to setup, its just the matter of policy.

I also believe that an edit function would be a really good idea. :) However, if it is a lot of work to set that up, then I guess not. I like your idea. I would also try Wordpad instead of a word processor, the results CAN be strange! *LOL* So, that is a good idea. :)

mylot should give us an option to edit or make some necessary corrections.
when i first joind here, i submitted one topic which i want to edit after posting...and i found out that theres no option for this here in mylot.
i think we should voice out to mylot about this...

Plenty of people have told MyLot how much they'd like it but MyLot are adamant. Once you understand that there is no editing after posting, it tends to make one check and recheck and think twice before posting. That is (or should be) a good thing, if you look at it. It should tend to prevent the unguarded, off the top of one's head type of response, though I have to say that still happens!

yes! we should voice out on this. And as a safeguard measure the edit power should be given based on reputation and Member rating

This would be a Wonderful addition for sure. Many people over time have requested this one, and posted it in here as a suggestion, so maybe eventually in time if they are considering doing any updates to this site as well, will consider this. I know I have found errors from time to time when I post in here I would Love to go back and correct later as well.

I completely agree with you. There are so many times that I send a response to post
and then while I am waiting for it to post, I see I made a mistake and would love to
take it back and change it. Or sometimes after it has posted and I read it again I
want to say more so what I do is make a comment.
This discussion has been going on since I became a member a year ago. People have been
saying this for a very long time. But I guess mylot can't change it because it would
be too much work for them to change the way their site works.
Maybe one day they will change it, but I don't see it. People have been asking them for
a long time to change it but mylot doesn't do it so I have to presume that it would
be too hard for them to do, or why not do it?

ya there should be an option for editing our discussion and responses because many people will make mistakes and there is no option to edit those mistakes and we ill get the bad impression from the other people...

Yes, I do. And, yes, I know that there is a "Preview Response" button. But I almost never use it. *LOL* I always try to proofread before hitting "Post Response". However, there are times that I just miss something. I hate having to write a response to my response clarifying what I REALLY meant. And, it IS possible to hit "Preview Response", look over it thoroughly and carefully, and STILL somehow miss an error! So, being able to edit a post after you have already submitted it would be REALLY nice!

I agree that it would be very handy for those of us who would use it responsibly. I do appreciate MyLot's point, though, that it is wide open to irresponsible use. Hey, it won't happen (of that I'm certain), so we may as well learn to think before we post!

Having such an option will save us time which we might need to proof read our posts. Regarding abuse of the facility, mylot can give the power to edit to only those who have more than 1000 posts and a reputation of 6+

Many people have suggested this but MyLot consistently says "No". Their reasoning is that edits may materially change the content of a response or discussion, making existing responses irrelevant or meaningless. I can see the logic behind this because I have occasionally observed something similar on Yahoo! Answers (where one is allowed to fully edit and change Answers but can only add further comments to Questions.)

Yes! what mylot tells is a point. But giving the power to edit posts to only reputed users (star value) based on their ratings (no. of posts) and that too only for 1-2 days after making the post will solve the issue to some extend. But an edit option would be sooo handy here at mylot.

Yes of course. But MyLot has their reply why they don't do it. They want to maintain the integrity of the post and do not wish for anyone to change the content as and when they wish. Also, they did mention that if a member is afraid of error, he should use the preview button before posting.

To maintain the integrity of posts they should only allow this power to people with integrity .. ie those with good reputation and ratings! Editing will be helpful not only for making correction but also for adding more details to the post based on changed circumstances.
