What I Hope and Pray For Prs. Obama, His Family and His Adminstration...

Prs. Elect Obama will be the next president. He earned that privilege through a great campaign and gaining the number of electoral votes necessary to win. For that I congratulate him! I pray for nothing but health, happiness and success for him, his family and his administration. I hope the people he chooses for his cabinet and turns to for advice are the best for the jobs are a credit to their positions and the US. Each have a tough job to do and must take their appointments very seriously. I hope they are up to the challenges of their responsibities and make the jobs better for having done them. I hope his girls enjoy all the unique opportunities that only come to "1st kids" by virtue of being in the president's family. I hope they learn a lot and don't take a second for granted. I can't imagine the wonder of being a child, living in the White House. Imagine playing childhood games in the hallowed halls of that historic place. When they have birthday parties or other special events in their young lives, their friends will be invited to The White House for a party. I hope Prs. Obama finds time to share special times with his family. Every move of a president is documented and scrutinized, but I hope there are opportunities for him, his wife and his kids to just be a family, enjoying the things they have always done together. But I also hope they take the opportunity to do new things too, things that they wouldn't get to do if they weren't the "first family". I wish them great adventures that create wonderful memories. For Prs. Obama himself, I pray that his experiences will help him rise to the occasion of his new position. However prepared he thought he was before, I'm betting he is feeling overwhelmed and inadequate... I also hope he is humble enough to feel both. All of us who have lived through several administrations have seen how much presidents age in those 4-8 year. Carter, Clinton and Bush all looked younger than their years when they started out, but none of them looked young when they left office. The responsibility is heavy and many decisions made by them are life and death situations. I've been in positions where my decisions meant lives, but the decisions of presidents mean hundreds or even thousands of lives. All presidents have made decisions that cost people their lives. We can't even imagine what it's like to sign that paper or make that call... and we see from the aging of the men who have done it, that it is no small matter. For the next 4 years, he will be president. I hope nothing happens to him in those 4 years that prevent him for finishing his term. Of course, presidents are human and might die or be killed, but I would not wish either on any president, whether I supported them or not. There are legal issues that cause a president to be removed from office. If Obama (or any president) turns out to have committed a crime so agregious that he must be impeached, then so be it, but it is not an end I hope, wish or pray for him. Anything that prevents a president from serving out a full term of office is a national tragedy. So, Mr. President, I pray for your health, success and wisdom. I didn't support you as a candidate and really don't think much of you as a person, but you will soon be the President of the United States. To wish anything bad upon you is to wish bad upon the US, and that is something I cannot do. Be strong and successful in all that you do.

Well said! I, too, hope everything works out alright. Like you, I don't like him, didn't support him, but he will be in the highest position in this country and as such I hope he will perform to everybody's satisfaction and keep America a free land.

No, none of us have the responsibility to support the president when he is doing things we oppose. However, too many people wish harm on the president, or hope he fails because they think it somehow vindicates their opposition. To me that is like hoping the ship you're travelling on sinks just because you don't like the captain. Thank you for your blessings and have a great Thanksgiving!
