I know it is cold outside, the wind is blowing and I am getting ready for work. In the back of my mind I am thinking I need some Long Johns, I don't even own any I just thought about them. Might make a great Christmas gift for someone. Do you know what they are? Santa wears a red pair. Do you own any of them?

I do know what they are. I do not have any. I wish I did. Maybe I'll ask Santa for some.

I have never had any of the one-piece kind, but I have owned thermal underwear and the thermal shirts that can be worn separate of each other. I like having the thermal pants and the shirt separately, because it gives me the option to wear only the shirt or the pants under my other clothing, so I can leave the pants on and take the shirt off if the weather and the type of work I was doing made it feasible or necessary to do so.

I do own a pair and I wear them.. You stay warm on the coldest of days if you have your long johns on.. Hubby wears them also as he had bad circulation in his legs and they help to keep them warm.. Long johns are lifesavers on a very cold day..

I've heard of those, but I didn't know they actually sold them anymore. I was pretty sure only old people had them from decades past!

I love Long Johns. I used to wear them all the time when I lived in Alaska. Haven't had a pair in years though. Now that I'm older and can't handle the cold as well, maybe it would be a great idea to invest in some. Hubby has a pair of thermals to wear on really cold days outside, but he hardly ever wears them. What a great gift idea too.

I don't own any of them. My son has had thermal underwear, but never the one piece one. My daughter wears and my son used to wear blanket sleepers/footie pajamas which I guess are pretty much long johns with feet.

No I don't own a pair of Long Johns. Just seeing that word brings back good memories of watching the Waltons and Little House on the Pierrire and the dads getting into bed with there long johns on, what passion killers!LOL

Are you talking about the one-piece kind with the flap in the back? I don't even think they make them for women! I've known some guys who wear them in the winter, but never any gals. Now, thermal underwear, sure. I've owned some. Actually, I think I still do. Last winter it didn't get very cold here. I was really surprised since it was my first winter living in the mountains but the highest mountains are just west of us so many that kept a lot of the colder air away. This year, it's much colder much earlier so I expect I'll be needing the thermal underwear! I don't think I'd like the longjohns, though. What if you had to pee pee VERY badly? Well, maybe they do make them for women. They'd have to be styled a little different from the Santa Claus kind, though!

HiChevee, Is it boots, I have several pairs but I haven't had the chance of wearing them as we haven't much snow and I haven't been out much. Hugs. Tamara

Long Johns were real poplar at one time. I never had any myself but since you mention it,I think I'll give it some thought. Then again I might not need any since I live in a place where it doesn't stay cold that long. Even right now it isn't cold, it's still warm, like 70 degrees in the daytime and 50-60 at night. We do have cold fronts as low as 40 degrees, but that doesn't last but a few days, maybe even a week before it gets back warm again. Maybe I'll buy my grandma some long johns. It stays cold all winter long where she lives. I'm sure she'll enjoy the gift.

I want one as I'm freezing right now despite having two long-sleeved shirts on, two pairs of socks, a pair of pj pants, and a robe over all these. And oh, a snow cap on my head. All I need is my mittens but it's hard to type with those on.

Hie Chevee. I know what they are from growing up in Western NY and snow. But I don't own any here in FL. My husband has some for cold days when he has to work on the dock at his work. Like tonight it's supposed to get down into the 30's.
