Which is better? Peanut butter, jelly, or both together in a sandwich?

I had an American girlfriend once who introduced me to peanut butter and jelly, and I grew to be quite fond of it. I still love jelly (we call it jam here), but I find peanut butter a bit bland and gluggy, hard to swallow. What do you think? Grandpa

I don't mind the occasional peanut butter and jam sandwich at all. I like to mix the PB with honey as well. I don't recall many Aussies eating this actually so is it getting to become more common now? My only rule is that it's gotta be smooth or creamy peanut butter as I don't really like crunchy! PB is great on it's own with crispy toast too.

Actually I think I remember seeing this! It was called "Goober" something or other and had peanut butter and grape jam wavy lines in it. I think I would prefer to make it myself too. It ain't rocket science!

oooh yes I like my peanut butter on toast with honey. Jam is ok too but I like honey it just seems to have been made for peanut butter. Some people think I am weird but who cares. I like it super crunchy.

You can actually buy your peanut butter and honey premixed now, and I don't mind it myself. But it's amazing how everyhting in life needs dumbing down these days, it's hardly as though we can't mix it ourselves. Lash

Between the two, I prefer peanut butter over jelly but for me the best sandwich is Tuna sandwich especially when it the tuna filling is home made. It is very yummy!!!

Perhaps I should have made this thread about favourite sandwiches, and forgot about the peanut butter and jelly. So far we've had egg sandwiches, chocolate sandwiches, and now tuna sandwiches. Lash

Hey grandpa_lash, i am assuming that, like me you are english (jam rather than jelly lol). when i was younger i used to like peanut butter with jam sandwiches, but only if it was smooth jam (no lumps or seeds) and crunchy peanut butter (yes i know that seems strange). my mum used to buy jars of "peanut butter and jelly" which basically reminded me of stripy toothpaste in a jar lol (the look not the taste). i do still sometimes have a peanut butter and jam sandwich, but it's quite rare now-a-days.

I'm Aussie bobbyjoe, you know, a Pom in training lol. I haven't seen the edible toothpaste on our shelves, but we do get peanut butter and honey premixed. Lash

When I was taught how to make peanut butter sandwhiches we put country crock butter, peanut butter and sometimes jelly on the sandwhiehc. the country crock helps make the peanut butter easier to swallow too. Some people like it and some think it is gross it is just the way I was taught to eat them.

Oh well all of the above and you can add honey to the list. I like peanut butter on its own just eaten out of the jar, super crunchy of course and I am addicted to nuts but cannot afford to buy the good stuff. Then there is peanut butter on toast, peanut butter and jam on toast. Oooh jam on toast is nice as a desert. Pb on toast with jam or honey is nice as a snack and desert at the same time.

Well yes, thukio, I like egg sandwiches too, just had one with lettuce half an hour ago. But why does it take a long time to prepare a peanut butter sandwich? I would have thought that was easier than egg. Grandpa

First off here jam is made with the whole fruit and jelly is made with just the juice from the fruit. Now it depends on which brand of peanut butter. some stick to the roof of the mouth more than others. For me I'm not much on jams or jellies with my peanut butter sandwich. In fact I don't do peanut butter sandwich. I like to just spread peanut butter on a slice of toast or plain bread. Then I put just a light sprinkling of sugar on it and that cuts the stick to the roof of your mouth, the gluggy and hard to swallow struggle. Occasionally I do like to stir in a bit of honey too. Here in my house we have peanut butter on our pancakes then smothered with syrup.

As an adult I still love peanut butter and jelly. I think one of the main ideas of the peanut butter is for the protein and substance. This is also a great favorite of kids.

I love peanut butter and used to eat it with jelly, or jam as we know it too. However, once digested it would look around the P1ke body and decide to take a permanent holiday on my waistline. There all the little buttery jelly atoms would cling together defying the belt on my trousers to keep them restrained. Alas, I now rarely succumb, or eat them even!

Definitely both! Why have one of them, when you can have both? Hehe. I am aware that some people might not like peanut butter and jelly both together in a sandwich, mainly because they don't like the peanut butter. But I personally like it both, because I have no problems with having peanut butter.

get rid of the peanut butter and replace it with chocolate spread. jelly and chocloate ... now that is a good combination. peanut butter goes well with celery which helps get rid of the hard to swallow problem.
