Do you answer private calls ?

A private call is a number that you don’t recognize .It could be from someone that you know or someone you don’t know. Some persons have the habit of making their number private when they want to call you anonymously .Where I am from some persons consider it a travesty to answer private calls ,I am not quite sure what the stigma is but I have some ideas .
I would like to hear your views on this issue, do you answer calls form someone you don’t know and if so what are the pros and cons for doing so ?

oh yes I do, because most of the time it's a friend calling from overseas so I would usually answer it immediately. If it's a local call it's also fine with me. if it's someone who offer or sell anything or if it's a creditor following up for payment I'll answer them politely too. It is very seldom though that I get private calls.

i Agree, i do exactly the same, because a number of house phones around my area have private number and myt fink its rude for me not 2 answer! But i think its up 2you if your comtable answerin then go 4iit! whats the worse thing that could happen? you could easily hang up :D

yeh, i usually get private calls arond 1 or 2 in the morning because its probably a random drunk prank call from my mates so i just answer it and if i dnt no who it is ill leave it on to waste their credit :)

By the way a private call is a number that shows private, unknown or restricted in your call display. I do not answer these calls as I don't know who they are from. I have voicemail so if you don't leave a message apparently you are not that important. You leave a message I will call back but you have to make sure you leave a number if I don't already have the number to reach the other person at.

I try not to answer them unless they leave me a message. Other than that I try to not answer them because I rather know who is calling me. I wish that they will make an anoynomous call block for cell phones like they did for the landline phones.

I still answer them, because my boyfriend's house is private, so it is usually him calling. Even if it was not, I would still answer it, because it may be something important. Even if it is someone I do not know, I could tell them that it is a wrong number so that they know and they could make the correction. They may not even know that they have the wrong number to begin with and call me many times throughout the day.

It depends on. I often get these unknown calls and I really dislike it. If I answer the call, usually it's insurance agent etc. Answering calls charges by minute and I don't want to waste my money in this aspect. If the area code is out of my city, then usually I won't pick up the phone as I don't have any friends in other provinces.

I only have a cell right now and yesterday I got one of those private calls. I think it might be the first one. I didn't answer it, I just get a wierd feeling and I am on a pay as you go hone so why waist my minutes when I do not know who I am talking to?

i don't like answering private calls and i know people who would not pick up the phone for private calls. just because there's a huge posibility that it's a wrong number or someone they really don't want to speak to. i pick up the phone for private call only because the college i go to calls me on my cell phone with a blocked number.

i usually don't answer these calls. i let it ring to voicemail and then if they leave one, i will call back. if they don't leave a voicemail, i assume it was either a junk call or a wrong number. if it actually was someone who needed to talk to me and didn't leave one, they'll most likely call back. no need to waste my time otherwise!

i dont answer calls from private numbers, why? well sometimes i dont even answer the calls from a number which i know, so if i dont answer a call from someone who i know, why would i answer it from a number which i do not know. its probally and most likey someone i do not want to talk to. and if its important, they will always send a message

Most of the time I would answer it ,but if I missed the calls from an unknown number ,I would not call back . Because there are lots of tricky calls nowadays which might waste your time as well as money .

I answer private calls. I do not have any problems with private calls. Of course, if the person is saying crap, I'll simply cut the phone.

i answe private calls because my moms number is private but if i know for a fact it isnt my mom i dont answer.

yes i answer private calls because i answer all the calls that come to my number and i will be very happy if my mobile rings very frequently and i love to answer all the calls i hate people who give missed calls. i never give a missed call i ask my friends also not to do so
