How this is a tough question. Actually its really hard to say. There are many different greatest player for different reasons.

you can not go wrong to say the name PELE :) his attitude on and off the field were great and even now he is gracious :)

It is really a tough question to answer.But,my personal opinion,it is Eric Cantona.One of all time greats,he played for France and Man U.In recent players I think a number of players are looking nice to make an impact like Cristiano Ronaldo,Lionel Messi,Kaka,Fernando Torres...

For me the best player of all soccer playes is Lionel Messi, the truth he is a very good player I think that much of the triumphs of his football team (the barcelona) is due to the high quality of him and as a player and the other great players in team, this is my favorite football team and for me he is the best player, which for to many people may he not be the best, but something really nice to see how he is in every game throughout the deliver himself up to win! and as a team who are all working together for the same goal!!
