I think that it would be more accurate to say that large societies need a shared gorup identity and set of ethics/morals .what is your opinion?

I dont think there is any set way really...I mean religion makes SOME ppl more kind and generous but others it tends to make them more greedy..Just like religion can make some ppl more humble but others more arrogant ya know...It can go either way..

If you deeply study origin of religion, you can easily understand that reformers have modified/changed/abandoned certain old customs and practices of people and have formulated a new conventions. It is enevitable when new ideas enter and preached in an attractive way, people incline to follow. If it has got support of rich or rulers,it will flurish sucessfully. But all reformers advise their followers to be generous. But they frame different ethics/morals to have a group identity in some cases. Some fail to adopt necessary changes scientifically.

It is supposed to be so. Charity is an intrinsic part of all religions. However, what I don’t like is the fact that all religions instruct for charity only among its own followers and that also in many cases, with the ulterior motive of conversion.

For me who is generous doesn't mean that he/she is very religious person.. Anyone can be generous in their own way with or without being religious.. Some other people were being generous for personal reason.. Like for example some politicians and artist.. They were giving some donations to the charity for the sake of popularity or to get the attention of media and people.. For me, if you want to give something or want to help to others, you don't need to let everyone knows what you've did.. You don't need to shout to the whole world how generous you are, right?? I'm not generalizing it to all politicians and artist because I know that there are some politicians and artist don't have personal reasons why they help others.. They help or gave donation to charity or poor people because they want too.. Being generous means you volunteer your self to help others.. You don't let the whole world know that you are generous.. You don't asked or except something in return..

Generosity!I doubt.Dont you see more terrorism happening in the name of religion now?People are growing more wild and closed to the religion they are in.Not only religion, they are restricted to castes,area,economy,status,etc.....How is it going to help the world rest in peace?Religions are developed to explain the unknown facts to one's knowledge and lead a person from where he is to a better stage. But,what is happening is very awkward.Generosity lies today in throwing a coin in the beggars plate. That's all!

Being social creatures, we will group. As far as morals, deep down we all know what it right and wrong. They interviewed a murderer one time. They asked what they should do with someone who murdered his mother. What do you think the murderer? said?

I don't think religion "makes" anyone anything. I think people join churches for their own purposes, and the shared group identity brings out what is already in them.

Yes, I think it is true that the people who believe in a religion will become generous, kind and so on. Since all the religions all tell the people to be good. And the people try to reach this goal and therefore they will learn how to forgive others and be generous to many things.

HeLlo friend, I think religion is important to arrange people life. Because religion content of rules to make a good life. If someone want to peace full, it will find the truth. Because peace full life within the truth of religion. Many religion in the world, but just one the truth. Firstly find the truth from your religion. Read the holybook.
