I just received a promo from Land Rover saying that if I buy one for my small business by the end of the month, it's tax free....and the promo came with a bag of tea! It's Boston Harbour Tea which claims to be the firm which supplied tea for teh historic boston tea parties. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we dump that stuff in the ocean in protest? I'll boil some water and let you know how the tea is.

jillmalitz, I think the whole point of the promotion was to say that they were having a tax-free sale. I wonder if Land Rover is trying to say they are suddenly anti-IRS? Hmmmmm.... Happy MyLotting!

lol =D The car sounds to be a good deal but not the tea fro sure.. lol =D Or maybe u can ask for not wanting the tea, but more discount on the land rover.. lol =D DO an one for one exchange.. hehe I guess they dun wanna waste the 'extra resources' they have, and thus they make it into an 'asset' by giving it away as a promo when u buy a Land rover.. lol =D

The tea that was dumped into the Boston harbor was not the loose tea that the company is selling. Tea in those days was compressed into blocks. I have had some and it is very good. It is also very strong if you brew very much. It tastes better than coffee but the CAFFEINE is much stronger. A block of that tea lasted a long time. Yes we did dump that tea into the harbor because of the taxes on it. It was the last straw.

Tea Mug - Here's a nice mug for any cup of hot tea!
"It was the last straw." LOL!!! England was just looking for a tax, ANY tax that the colonists would be willing to pay, since they were still demanding the benefits of being English without giving anything back to England. These days, we call it "tax evasion". Looks like the tradition of tax evasion is our oldest one in America, only we imprison people for it, which is un-American, don't you think? The tea they sent me was actually quite good, but I'm not going to order any more. Interesting information about the blocks of tea though. Thank you!

I understand that they reinact the dumping of tea in Boston so I guess they have to get tea someplace so they can dump it - I guess they get it from this place.

Not only did we dump it in protest to taxes, but the tea came from England and had not yet been unloaded into Boston. Some people will claim anything and they will always find someone to believe them. Ha

It will probably take a lot of boiling to get the salt water out of it. LOL

Yeah, and then we blamed the prank on innocent people, which was rather scurvy of us when you think about it. I tell you what, I will NOT drink the tea in protest. Hah, that is easy for me because I'm not a tea drinker -- except for the red stuff which is herbal (Roibus! Mmmmm!)

dnnhh, I seem to recall that the colonists dressed-up as Indians, but didn't intend to blame it on them...sort-of like people dressing-up like vampires to rob a bank. Granted, vampires aren't real, but I think it's sort-of the same thing. Just seems like that's what I read. Happy MyLotting!
