I'm going to give a gift certificate to a lady I work with who's pregnant and due in December... do you think I should give her one from Wal-Mart, or Target? Why?

Wal-mart. She'll get more for her money there.

Walmart is cheaper than target and she can get alot more stuff at walmart with the card..but I would say Target becuase the clothes for kids last longer than walmart's.

But babies grow so fast, it doesn't really matter how long the clothes last, the baby will probably outgrow it before the clothing is unwearable anyway.

Good point... What good is a cheap price if the quality is also cheap?

we have wal-mart here in chengdu, but I dont think it will as successful as in US, it is too americanized, and the mot popular supermakert here is Auchan from France.

Interesting! I've always wondered if they changed the store's culture depending on which country they were in... guess not ;)

Target, the price difference on baby items really isn't that different between Wal-Mart and Target. Wal-Mart is usually not a great shopping experience anytime of year, but with the holidays approaching it's going to be a mad house! Target is cleaner, more organized, and much nicer in general. Besides, Target has come out with some really cute nursery decorations and clothes for babys!!

Red vests over blue, Target wins, lol. I hope Target has more respect for their workers, they couldn't possibly have any less.

good point. Walmart is bad for the country. They are becoming a monopoly taking away any and all competition and they hire illegal aliens. Also in my town, walmart just bought this land on a hill about a major highway and during the digging process it created a landslide and the highways was closed for a while. That should have been a sign to not build but they are just buying more land further up the hill to build. And we have a walmart closer to us than this one I was talking about. They are moving it right across the street because a strip mall was put in there and they were supposed to say what stores went in there but they didn't get say. So they are gonna destroy more animals home and the environment in their quest to take over the world.

Ha... Wow! That's crazy! I really think Target should try to fight them more. I really prefer shopping at Target, but the lower prices of wal-mart get to me since I'm a college student. Gotta do whatcha gotta do... which is exactly what they're counting on.

Yeah, I like Target better too! But Wal-Mart does have cheaper prices... that's probably the most important thing for a new mother.

Target because they have a much better choice of baby things. I purchased at both stores and yes walmart in cheaper, but Target products hold up better. My cribs were from Walmart and my twins are 18 months old and I'm still replacing them. I know it's the manufactures fault but Walmart wouldn't help one bit. When I have had problems at Target the customer can first.

That's very true... Target has always been more customer service oriented. I (we) work at Nordstrom, so customer service is HUGE for us.

I personally would prefer a giftcard from WalMart because I can get more for my money. However, most ladies would probably prefer the clothing and items at Target due to the name brands available. So, it really would depend on if she is a real thrify type of person or she has specific tastes that she feels is worth spending more money for.

I've never really shopped at Target.. Ho wmuch is the gift certificate for?? Ive been to walmart.. its kind of pricey LOL.. for clothes. I saw a few newborn clothing items for about $20 each!? But I'm sure, blankets, bibs, socks, ect.. would be cheaper.. anyways, if she can't find baby stuff, i'm sure she can find alot more stuff at walmart than target.

I'd rather not say how much it's for. Baby stuff can be expensive anywhere! I think it's a little ridiculous... My kids are gonna have to wear paper bags ;)

I think it kinda depends on her preference & which one is easier for her to get to. There isn't a Target in my town, the nearest one is almost 50 miles away, so Wal-Mart is our only choice here.

I like Target's products better. They are more stylish and of better quality but Walmart is more affordable. If she's having a baby, she's gonna wanna stretch every dollar she's got. My answer is wal-mart.

If we were judging on cleanliness and care of employees I'd say Target, but we are discussing the needs of a soon-to-be mom. I would say she could get more products at Walmart for the money she spends.

Unfortnatly Walmart is the only on in Canada right now and Clothes wise they SUCK!!! it is a good place for teenager but for business clothes I rather go to Value Village, or second hand store because the have better choice and quality for your buck.

This is true... but we're talking about clothes and other necessities for a baby... I don't think the baby is gonna be too picky ;)

We just had a new Wal-Mart come in down the road... it's actually really nice. It has wood floors and REALLY wide aisles!

If she was my friend, I'd probably give her the certificate for Walmart. While Target has some really nice things, you sure can get more things for your buck at Walmart. Gift certificates to either would be nice, at showers you get so many duplicates lots of times.

Yep, I agree... I'm also making her a blanket (so I know nobody else will get it for her!). Her nursery is going to be Classic Pooh - so cute!

Target. It's a much higher quality of merchandise, not to mention that their stuff is really cute! Walmart traffics in junk mostly, in my opinion.

I am a new mom with a four month old son. Here's my opinion: Wal-Mart = Yes it is true that Wal-Mart is cheaper than Target and she may be able to make her money last a little longer there. Target = However, target has much more things available in their baby section. Plus they offer far more superior products than Wal-Mart. Also a much bigger variety for certain things. I would say definitely get her a gift card to Target over Wal-Mart.

Wally world definately. She will get more for her money. I shop Target, but find myself looking at mainly the clearance items because I find that their everyday prices are higher than other places I shop. If I can't find it in clearance or on sale, there is no sale from Target.

I am the SAME EXACT way! That's sooo funny! I'll buy clothes from there, but I only shop the clearance racks... I think I've only bought two regular priced things from Target - I'm cheap!

Target. Even though Walmart is a bigger place than Target, they are really bad. They treat their employees with bad respect and they dont even offer health insurance. So, I think you should get the gift card at Target.
