Going out to eat

We are funny people, in that we do funny things on the whim. Yesterday, I was sick all day and just laid around here in the seat mostly sleeping, although I tried to compute a little. My husband wanted to know what we were having for dinner, but he knew I didn't feel like cooking. I just felt terrible and just wanted to sleep. So, he asked if I just wanted to put on my shoes and coat and lets go get a pizza. I agreed, so we did. But, what we did was very funny! We went to the town nearest us, about 10 minutes away, and parked in the parking lot there. He went in and bought a pepperoni pizza. He had put ice in some big glasses and put the tops on them and grabbed a 2 liter pepsi. He came back out to the car and said he didn't want to take up their parking spots (they don't have many), so 'let's go over to the WalMart parking lot', which we did. And, to top it all, he backed into the parking spot up against the bank so he could just pull out. I reminded him that everyone could then see us sitting in the car, eating and drinking our pepsi. But that didn't bother him. We actually sat there and ate most of that pizza while people came and went, buying groceries. A few took a stare at us, but my husband said let the watchman come out to check us out. I told him they may charge us for parking! BUT it was fun. At least, we didn't come home and have to warm the pizza up! I also told him we could tell our kids we 'went out' to eat last night, only we sat in the WalMart parking lot while we did it.

You know, I bet half the fun was in thinking that you were doing something wrong and getting away with it! LOL Actually, I don't think WalMart employees care one way or the other. My son works at WalMart and he said that management there doesn't even care about shoplifters! They DO care if the employees steal things, but not if they are just customers. Unbelieveable, huh? I just can't wrap my brain around that kind of attitude. But, back to you. I'm glad you enjoyed your "dinner out"! Doing things like that, on the spur of the moment, are the most fun. Plans can go wrong but spur of the moment things rarely do! I'm sure that brightened up your day.

Hahaha! Me, too! Sometimes, I don't want to buy something if I haven't seen it out of the box. Sometimes I need to know what it's made of or something else along those lines, BUT I do feel funny opening the box! The first time I ever opened anything before paying for it was when my youngest son was a toddler and he was quite figity. He had ADHD so I had to find something to occupy his mind AND his little fingers. I grabbed a box of cookies and opened them, but felt so GUILTY! LOL I just made sure that the box wasn't hidden and kept it in plain sight so they wouldn't think I was trying to get away with something. I know exactly what you're saying, too. I couldn't even THINK of stealing anything. My mother did that to me. When I was young, she said that when I tried to lie, it was written all over my face. That made me so paranoid that I never tried to lie ever again! That same philosophy spilled over to stealing as well... and it STUCK! LOL Well, it's good to meet another very honest person. Hello, fellow honest person!

Never really thought about it was something we were doing wrong. Just felt funny sitting in their parking lot eating at night. But the pizza was good while it was still hot. I known several people who have worked for WalMart and ours do care about shop lifters. I know one that worked there whose husband was caught! It's terrible what people will do! I'd be scared to even look like I might be going to take something, let alone take it! I feel funny if I open something to check it out before I buy it!

If we're out and about we'll grab some fast food and eat it in the car while we're driving around. I'm sure when the kids were younger we'd stop and eat in a parking lot, so they wouldn't make a mess with their food. But I guess we've gotten used to it, because we don't stop the car to let the toddler eat. He eats in his car seat while we're driving around. We just don't let him drink until we stop.

We often buy something on the run and eat in the car while we are moving. But we have never bought a big pizza and parked and ate it. I just thought it was so funny! But I wasn't going to argue, considering how bad I felt. We tried not to eat in our cars when our children were small. And my husband doesn't like the grandkids to have anything to eat or drink in our car now, but they have a few times since they've gotten older. We know this car has to last us a long time!

No I've never eaten a large pizza in the car either. We don't let the kids eat in the car as much as we used to, but I'm not overly concerned about it if and when they do. I don't care much about the messes, we're not the type of people who keep our cars immaculate anyways. There's usually a few bags, wrappers, or soda cans lying around it. Actually hubbies is so bad that you may have to sit in the passenger seat with your legs crossed in your lap, lol! Good thing he's the only one who uses his.

Ah Barb42. There is nothing quite like enjoying life. Kudos to your husband for taking the initiative on dinner. And kudos for you too for going along with him for the adventure. I wish you and your husbands many more fun dates such as the one you had with the pizza in the parking lot. Life is sweet, but only if we take the time to enjoy it. *hugs*
