My 6 yr old son is playing Basketball this Winter and they had their first game last Saturday. The first 30 minutes was spent on skills testing like running, dribbling and shooting and then the second 30 minutes was the game. They had four x 6 minute quarters. Maddy got to play the second and last quarter and had a fun time, running around defending his player, trying to snatch the ball out of their hands, shoot the ball, pass the ball and rebound. I must say they ALL did really well for their first game and even though scores are not kept, my hubby and I kept our own score and we won 6-4. Are your kids playing any Winter sports this year? share your stories. Thanks.

That is really cool. Glad to hear that Maddy is getting involved in team sports. I have a niece that is good at basketball and wants to go pro. I have yet to see her play though.

It was a lot of fun watching them play. I had to keep myself from yelling when he got accidently pushed or shoved trying to get the ball. They are so cute in their uniforms and try really really hard to play really well. We were so proud of their first game and the other team were a good sports too.

My girls play indoor soccer in the winter. There are two sessions now so the first session is just winding down with the third round robin playoff game this Sunday. The championship game will be played on the 29th. My younger daughter has a possibility of making it into the final game but I don't think my older does. Then January 18th we start the second session. I love watching their games but a lot of times they coincide with my writing group. I hate missing their games but I also have to have a life of my own. It's the only thing I do for me. But watching their games is exciting.

I agree that watching him train and play is exciting. Reminds me of myself when I use to play sports in my younger days.

I always like to hear about kids playing sports. The earlier children get involved in activities the bettr. I wish I had gotten into things like that when I was younger. I did play basketball starting in fourth grade, but I think my self esteem might have been better had I been involved in an activity when I was younger. Congratualtions to your son!

He definitely takes after both of us as we played sports when we were younger. I only stopped playing a few years ago when I ruptured my archilles tendon.

My son is not in any winter sports. He has actually never been on any sports teams. He wanted to play soccer, but when it came time for sign ups he changed his mind because he was afraid he would not be any good. Glad your son had a good time learning to play basketball.

He is having a great time thanks. I've always played sports since I was young and only stopped playing a few years ago when I ruptured my archilles. It's also another outlet for him to release all that energy he has everyday. Thanks lilybug!
