Should we thank the owner after getting the Best Response(BR)?

Should we do that to show that we are glad that s/he awarded us a BR. Recently I got a BR and to tell you the truth it was the only response that discussion had! So, should I thank him?

When you give br, do you think that the receiver should thank you? I don't think it is absolutely necessary but is a nice gesture for sure. Stop by and leave a comment under the response they chose as best. This is what I usually do.

Additionally, if it is the only response to that discussion, would you give best response and expect the receiver to thank you? I would not expect to receive thanks but I think that is up to the person receiving. If you are inclined to give thanks, by all means do.

Yes, I would not mind having thanks from them but I am not expecting it from them but if there is only one response then the meaning of BR is changed. I mean I had one discussion which got only one response and I choose it to give a BR because the answer was to the point and I liked it a lot. When I like them a lot I give BR.

Well I think that would be a nice thing to do as it shows your appreciation for doing so ,he could have decided to wait for others but apparently he felt satisfied that your response sufficiently answered his question. In addition ,your answering may serve to lodge your name in his meemory and he will be eager to read your responses and even find favor with other discussion you write .

Now a days, I do give thanks to the owner. The reason behind it is that now I have opted for notification for BR which earlier I didn't. So, if you are giving me a BR, I will thank you for it!

I don't think it's really necessary. If you write the best response, you deserve the award -- it shouldn't be looked at as one user doing a favor for another. Every now and then, I do notice discussions where rather dull posts are given the BR ahead of more interesting responses and I always wonder in those if the thread starter and the BR receiver are friends. BRs should be given out on merit if they are to have any meaning. Still, saying "Thank you" never hurt anyone, and I think it is quite a friendly gesture.

I don't always thank the person who gave me a best response because I'm not usually aware of receiving one unless I check. But I do try to check every week or so because I, personally, think you should thank that person, especially if (s)he is one of your friends. It's a nice gesture but I'm not sure what the general view on this is.
