What are we supposed to do?

United States
January 4, 2009 8:06am CST
I have just read another on the many discussion that get posted here on my lot which seems to be in some kind of secret code. I am not a mind reader and I get tired of seeing these unfathomable rants here on myLot. They are ravings about some other user or type of discussion but they do not even give a clue what has set them off. I know we are not supposed to give users IDs but we can link to offending discussions or at least give a hint??? Perhaps this is a catharsis for them or just a ploy to get "pity" or poor you sympathy responses. My question is what am I supposed to give as a response when I do not know who or what the hell they are talking about?

They don't post a link because it's against the TOS at MyLot to draw attention to a particular post "for the purpose of drawing attention to another thread on a different subject" Which you just did.

That you so much but I have in my 3 years here read the guidelines. IMO it is not on a different subject but relating to the context of the referenced link i.e. rants.

Oh I wasn't trying to be ugly. Just stating that I've seen post after post just like this one disappear. They don't care about what your opinion on the post is, they just delete it.

I don't bother answering most of the time, unless I know what the person is referring to.

I know what you mean and I am starting to believe that some are just out for the Pity or for the responses and you know that People will respond to it even if they do not know what it is about Good to see you again Heather

The only people who care about what's going on is the people involved. Why would it even bother you? You're not obligated to reply to every discussion you see, and why would you even want to chime in on a discussion when you don't know the people or what they're talking about? There are thousands of discussions here, and there are also small groups of people who know each other and like to get involved in each other's problems. Move on. Nobody expects you to be a mind reader or to mind other people's business if it doesn't concern you.

Well I think they are probably similar to the one you just made. I have no idea who or what you're talking about. Occasionally people run across a situation they don't understand or are upset about and just need to blow off some steam. I've done it myself on occasion. Sometimes it's easier to vent to strangers than it is to people you know. There are always kind people on myLot who will show sympathy or who have had a similar problem. If you weren't a part of the offending discussion in question and don't have a clue what it's about then I'd just pass it by and forget it. There are plenty of other discussions to answer. Or you can do what I just did and take a wild stab at what I think you want to hear.

Ok, now I get it! I get such a kick out of her sense of humor. She always just says what's on her mind. You did a good job responding to it!

Well, you do not have to give them a response, I guess. Or you could tell them that you are clueless, but you hope they feel better now, or I guess you can make up some really raving response to match the discussion. I know, it is frustrating.

lmao! I know what you are talking about. I could start a discussion regarding this one and not say where it came from! I just ignore these discussions. Obviously they do not apply to me.

When I find discussions like that, I don't respond at all. I read it and then go on to a different discussion. I just walk away shaking my head. The only people who can respond to such a discussion are those who know more details. It leaves the rest of us out. Oh well, we have better discussions to occupy our time.

I think I have seen a few of those myslef and like you I am getting tired of them.I mostly just ignore them because I dont know how to coin a response for something that I cant understand. But I understand your frustration and just keep searching for good discussions even though those are getting less here .

i think when you are not getting the idea of the discussion then let them discuss it who wants to. why you are bothered about it. if they want our help or want us to participate then they will be more opening with their words. till then wait or just leave that discussion without responding.

There are a definate many times here when it would be nice if someone could share a little more information in a case such as this, in order to help protect some of the rest of us here as well. I know there are times I see a Warning discussion and wish I knew who it was before I get caught in this from them as well. We have mostly Good members here, but from time to time we do get ones that are BAD for this site, and wish there was a way to STOP or prevent this before a lot of others get caught up in it from them as well.

People getting annoyed here seems to be the norm these days. I don't know what the rant is about either, but Loud must have been really upset to Rant and Rave so much. Must have been really serious.

ROFL! I just love your straight forwardness! it's one of those things that just catches me by surprise and says everything I've thought but never said! lol! I agree, Whiteheather, I agree! what are we suppose to say when we haven't a clue what it's about!

You are so right. It is annoying. I thought the point of starting a discussion was to discuss something with everyone. Not just start saying things like, this user knows what I'm talking about, etc. It is crazy.

I just make comments to the topics am interested in or I can relate to. We all have the choices to make comments or not. There are so many topics for us to participate to, anyway, so no problem about that. If I don't like the topic, it won't deserve my comment.
