Yesterday was her birthday and today there will be an open house for her at her church. I live 2 1/2 hours away and will not be able to attend because of bad weather. A lot of my cousins will be there. I haven't seen many of them in years. My aunt from Montana is visiting too. My grandma still lives on her own in her condo. My mom does a lot of her laundry for her (the washer and dryer are in the basement)and they check in on her frequently. She is really still pretty healthy and only gave up her driver's license about a year ago due to glaucoma. Her own mother (my Great Grandma) lived to be 93! I hope it's hereditary!

Hi rocketj1, Congratulations to your grandmother on her 90th birthday, that is a great age. She may well live longer than her own mother and it's so good that she is still able to live on her own. My mother-in-law was ninety in September and lives in a seniors home, but she is able to get out and visit her family and of course they visit her often as well. It's too bad that you won't get to attend the open house, but I'm sure you'll see her soon. Blessings.

Well thats great...to be able to live up into your 90's is a blessing. I bet your grandma has seen alot of things in her lifetime, and been through alot of things also. Well its too bad that you won't be able to be there for the open house, darn the bad weather...haha. Its good to hear that she's still able to live on her own also, I bet she didn't want to give up her driver's license did she? lol. I know my grandpa never did, even when he got real sick, and hadn't drove in years, he still had it..lol. I hope I get to live to the age of some of my elders, I do think its hereditary, so don't worry...Have a good day

Congratulations to your grandma. Not a lot of people grow old to that age. So here's to more years for your grandma.

Congratulations to your grandma and happy belated birthday to her! It's glad to hear that she is still healthy and I think she is very happy too, right? As you all are so closed to each other, and care about her. Also, it seems like she is still independent where she just gave up driving a year ago? Hope that your family will be always happy with her.

Oh I feel so bad for you that you won't be able to attend, that's unfortunate. Good for your Grandma and for your sake I hope it's a hereditary feature also.

Happy birthday to your Grandma, I know I'm late but my computer was in the shop until today. It's wonderful to have people that old in your family, make sure you ask them about their lives, as a genealogist one of the most frustrating things is not being able to ask just ordinarily questions about people's early lives. Love and best wishes to all your family.

I am sure it probably is. As our technology has become more advanced, we have lived longer and longer. I cannot fathom a time where life expectancy was 30 or 40.

Wow, thats a lovely story, and birthday wishes to your grandma from me! She obviously has great genes and is lucky to be healthy and active at 90 - it's a shame you will be missing out on the birthday celebrations but perhaps you can see her when the weather improves a little?

Congratulations to your Grandma on reaching 90! I have many clients who are elderly. One is 94 and still kicking. One is 91 and although she still drives a car, she tells me this will be her last year to drive. Still has her wits about her and knows when to give it up!
