I am in a book club and we have just finished "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks (yes, I finished the book and liked the ending, still not happy with the first 2/3 of the book dragging on!)Our next selection is going to be "The Kite Runner". It was made into a movie (which I have not seen) and is supposed to be an excellent book. Has anyone here at myLot read this? Without giving anything away about the story, how did you like it?

I don't do much reading. However, I do like Nicholas Sparks. I've seen some movies that were made from his books. I don't think I've read "The Choice" tho. Is the book "The Kite Runner" one of his?

No it's not. It's by Khaled Hosseini. I believe it's about some boys in Afghanistan during the war. I haven't purchased it yet.

Thank you:) I generally think that books are always better than the movie, don't you?

yes i do, i always prefer reading books than watching movies. but life has made me really busy that i can only read a book before i go to sleep. with watching movies, i just don't have the time to go theaters because there are a lot of work to do at my office. ^_^

I just finished reading "the Kite Runner" not too long ago. I thought it was a good book. It is written in first person and seems to be a good portrait of some what has happened to Afghanistan over the years. It is a moving story about two boys and how their live intertwine and how an event changed the way one sees the other as they grow up. I would suggest you see the movie before reading the book because if you don't you will be disappointed in it. So much is left out of the movie but that is usual for movies that are made from books. It is Kaled Hosseini's first book and I think he did an excellent job because you would think it is more than a fictional novel.

This book is one of the best I've read. You will have an excellent read here. I always avoid movies made of books I've read. My 10-year-old granddaughter must read books before she sees movies. Enjoy your reading.

I'm going to have to give Sparks another chance. The Choice was the one I started a discussion about. It never got going until 2/3 of the way through. It was the only one of his that I've read. I know that there are others that were made into movies and I've not seen any of those either. I'll try one of those. This new book is about some boys in Afghanistan during the war. Completely different from Sparks, right?

I have read 'The Kite Runner'. The book is awesome. It is a very sensitive story and sometimes disturbing. After reading some disturbing parts at 11.00 in the night, I was so disturbed by the story that I couldn't sleep for 1 hour even though I wanted to sleep!

I have not read the book but the Movie was excellent. The books are always far better detailed so I guess you are in for a good read with this one.
