How many of you wear spectacles?

What prompted this discussion is that I had to change my spectacles recently. All this while I was wearing a bifocal one ,and I used to wear them when I was reading.I could not manage to walk with these on, especially down the steps. Now, since there is a change inpower, I had to change the specs too. This time I opted for separate pairs [one for reading and one for vision. But the vision part is not too bad in my case and I can see reasonably well without these too.But since ther has been a mild increase the doctor said I can use them while walking too. But , having been used to bifocal I am having problems adjusting and on top of two pairs I ordered a bifocal one too[a chealper one] in desperation. How long does it take to adjust in your case , if you are wearing specs?

It took me about two months to adjust to the bifocal. I got the 'no line' type. Sometimes it still bothers me. I was told to move my eyes, not my head, by my eyedoctor. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't, lol. My husband hates his, and gave up wearing his, going back to his old pair. I hate getting different lenses. Sometimes I get headaches when I get new glasses. Good luck, lol.

I used to have good eyesight and never wear glasses until I turned 45 when I became far-sighted. I can see things far away very clearly, but I can't read without my glasses. I wear glasses when I read, when I surf the Internet and when I respond to your discussion. I needn't wear them when I walk.

I have been glasses since forever. lol.. I just cannot do without those, they are my best pals. I am short sighted, myopic and have trouble seeing distant things. A few months ago I changed my specs as well. It's heck of a thing to get the right pair and since I wear it constantly, I am quite fidgety about it. I must have it right. I have three pairs, one for home and other two for wearing outside. I remember, giving sittings for contact lenses but I couldn't really find it handy. It never worked for me. So I am happy with four eyes now.

It is terrible if our glasses are not right. I was feeling guilty for ordering another pair but I am relieved that there are others who are also like this. I must have ordered one bifocal and one for computer antiglare and that was my initial plan Mimpi but later I suddenly said that Ill have the separate pair and these two are the stylish slightly expensive ones. So, now I have ordered one pair of inexpensive specs [--the frame and glass--the first two were unbreakable plastic]as astandby and now this is bifocal. So reading is something that cannot, on any account, be done without specs and so now I have a spare one for this ,for contingencies.

You know what that's a good thing to do. I think glasses are a must and investing in good ones is a part of healthy living. Good glasses keep our eye power constant and the distance between the eye and the glass is very important. All these only a good brand can provide us with. So, do not be guilty and when and if you do skip on buying on one saree or suit next time...

I wear glasses and have since I was about 12. My eyesight is terrible and in fact without my glasses I can only see shapes...no distinctions. I wear mine all the time except when I'm sleeping and showering. If I take them off, it takes a few minutes for my eyes to adjust around things and I get really bad headaches when I don't wear them. Hi Kalav,I do not wear spectacles but my seven year old son is wearing the same. He is facing problem with his eye sight and it is dictated by the school authorities and they send a note to us to show him an eye-specialist. Initially I worried much, there was no history in our family, wear glasses in such a small age but worrying is not a solution for his problem. According to the doctor he should wear the same in his whole life. My experience is this much and I think I can't give any suggestions for you. When I saw the discussion I remember my son that is why I am responding. Good luck to you.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 16 years old. At first, I did not like wearing them at all. In fact, I opted for lenses and used to wear them everyday. However, about two years ago I had an eye infection which lasted over a week, and since I could not take it any longer, I decided that it was best to wear specs. I still wear lenses during the weekends or on special occasions, but at least I am free from infections till now.

I wear specs, and I am wearing them for the past 14 years. And each time I start using a new spec due to a changed power, I get this feeling that I can't walk down the stairs. But it gets adjusted soon. It takes only 2-3 days to be comfortable with the new pair of specs.

I am near-sighted, so I need to wear spectacles when I watch TV. But I don't wear it in my spare time. I only wear it when it's necessary. I love China

I wear spectacles but since i have myopia, I keep only one pair which I use while reading. I've seen one of my neighbours who had recently got the bifocal specs, she could not adjust for quite sometime. Few days back, when I met her , she told me that she has ordered for both the separate ones as she was feeling uncomfortable with a single bifocal pair.

Hi Kalav...he..he..Fortunately for me,I havent started wearing any specs so far....Actually I went to the ophtalmologist and I had my eyes tested a fortnight ago.He said that not maay people above 40 years of age can manage without specs, but since I did not have much problem reading or working on pc ,and never get any head ache or other discomfort,he said I can continue for some more time without any specs.I can even thread a needle with my bare eyes, but after a few attempts......So I guess I am lucky as far as my eye sight is concerned....but unfortunately I am not in a position to give u any tips about specs.....

i have to wear the spectacles from 17 years and i don't like them , so i have removed them , i think my power in the vision has increased , i have to consult a optimistic so that i can get a new pair of glasses . it is always not suitable for me to get the specs as it is very difficult for me to wear them, and it is uncomfortable for me . i think many of them will feel the same . when we are running or bending down , it is difficult for me , so of them will also be teasing about the glasses

I had glasses at one time but no longer need prescribtion glasses. When I had glasses I had the bifocals to begin with and couldn't get used to them. So I switched to just regular glasses. I had a eye exam and my doctor said that my eye sight is good enough that just reading glasses would do. She said that she could prescribe me a pair or I could just buy a pair from Dollar Store or Walmart or a place like that.

I have wore glasses since I was 15 ! I cannot go without them now. My husband needs a pair , but he will not go to the eye doctor. He does not like the idea of wearing glasses because I guess he thinks that means he is old.

I was wearing a spectacle for three years when i was fifteen years old but later i removed slowly as my power was increasing to normal and i was able to see as usual and thanks to the help of vegetables and tablets i now can see everything normally and clearly but when i was wearing spectacles the only problem that i faced was that pain in the side of the rims which itched so much that it was irritating too much and i was feeling the pain of wearing the specs... Happy Mylotting
