How Long Do You Warm Up Your Car For?

Since it is the winter time it's been absolutely freezing here in the mornings. I drive my daughter to the bus stop every morning unless it's warm outside. I go outside and start the car to let it warm up for about 10 minutes before we leave. Do you let your car warm up when it is cold outside? If you do then for how long?

Usually I allow ten to fifteen minutes for my car to warm up, but with these cold temps we've had the last two days I start it about 20-30 minutes before I leave the house. No fear tho for me, back to my ten to fifteen. We ahve a heatwave coming and will be back into the 20's and 30's soon.

Lucky you. That is a heat wave. Time to bring out the shorts.

and the flip flops. One brave soul the other day when the winds blew into town wore a fluffy jacket, jeans and flip flops. I almost fainted when I looked down at her feet in the check out line....

usually I let it warm up for about 10 mins, but lately it has been about -17 degrees out so I have let it warm up a lot longer! Maybe a half hour. And it is still cold when I go out there.

Oh yeah, I hate when that happens. I can't help but think of all the gas I'm wasting.

I normally let mine warm up for about 5-10 minutes when it is really cold out. If it is not below freezing then I usually do not bother warming it up. It was 3 degrees out this morning though, so when I go out later I will be warming up the car.

I let it go for about 15-20 minutes. If it's below zero- usually a half an hour. I hate the cold.

Normally my car warms up for as long as it takes my to clean off my car or scrape my windows, so maybe 5 minutes or so. I am not a car expert by any means, bt I once read an article in the newpaper by the "car guys" that actually said that it's not good to let your car just sit there idleing. I forget what their reasoning was, but I think it was actually tougher on the engine than if you just hop in and drive away.

I warm up the car for about 15 minutes or however long it takes for the car to heat up inside. sometimes I leave it running longer if there is snow or ice on the windows.

I get scolded by my dad all the time because I seldom warm up my care. My dad place a lot of importance in these routine which I seldom do because I could just use the car straightaway and always forget about warming it up first because sometimes I am really rushing.

I live in Florida so I don't usually have to warm up my car. But these last few days have been down into the 30's and 20's so I need to warm it up before I go anywhere. Usually about 10 minutes is enough for me.

10 mins seem like the norm. I tend to warm up my car while finishing getting dressed and such then I go on my merry way.
