For those people who love taking pictures do you think we all have a sunset picture, what makes it so good to take one, do you have one and what made you take it?

I love sunsets! I really love the color of the sky during sunsets. Sometimes, sunsets have a golden-brown kinda color to it and other times, they have a pinkish-blue color to it. I have a bunch of sunset pictures from a lot of different places. I always enjoy capturing the sunset and the color and emotions sunsets bring.

If I can find some, I'll try to upload them here. I put them all on DVD already to back them up. I don't have any left here on my pc.

Sunsets are hard to resist, but there are some places that perform every evening, like Cable Beach, for instance, or Johannesburg.

I tried to add a photo... might try again. Odd - the photo seems to upload OK, but doesn't show here.

That is a nice one. I really love all of the different colors you see when the sun is setting. The sky just looks so beautiful and it changes so rapidly. I love to capture the beauty of it all.

Silhouette at Sunset - This was taken with a Canon Powershot A530. I was seated so my movement was limited and I tried to line up the sun behind a tree and I waited until the dancers came into view.
Taking a photo of a sunset or sun rise is a challenge. If you don't do it right you lose the color you were trying to capture. Some times you you are in the right place at the right time but it is a very undramatic sunset or sunrise. Can the photo be saved? This is the time to be creative and try something different. In the attached photo I tried something different. I decided to try taking a sunset silhouette with the Hawaiian Dancers and the Palm Trees. What I though was going to be a poor sunset photo, I think turned out to be a good photo. Moral of the story - Never be afraid to try something different.

I think the key to taking sunset pictures is color and balance. WHen we see sunsets what's one of the things we try to catputre the most? The vibrant change of colors. When most sunset pictures are taken the best ones seem to be reflections off the water. What happens is the water diffuses the colors and melds them giving you a different feel from the bottom to the top. Also another thing i a well balanced sunset. Meaning some sunset photos are great with the sun in the middle however it needs to have even clouds throughout the photo or some sort of tree that spans the horizon connecting the two. Like your photo it is very well balanced. The sun with the scattered clouds makes for an interesting view including the shining of the suns rays. I adore sunset photos and can't wait to take a few on my honeymoon.

I think some of the best sunset photos are taken in tropical places where there are so many colors in the sky. It is really beautiful.

I dont think it has to be in a tropical place at all, but thanks for the comment.
