Well he's our President now. What did you make of the speech he made?

The future of America does not rest soley on Obamas shoulders. It's going to take us as citizens to make the real difference. But I think America needs amazing people in the white house to help us reach our goals. Say what you will about Barak Obama, he has moved the nation already in so many ways. Did you see all those people? The came united in hope. It's not all about Obama. It's about US. Thank God we finally have a remarkable person to lead this country, and rally us to something great. It has been FAR too long.

As a side note, I couldnt possibly picture John McCain inspiring so much hope, and sounding such a powerful clarion call at this point in American history. I respect McCain very much... but as Obama was speaking I pictured McCain standing there instead. Somehow seeing Obama standing there seemed right... as if it couldnt possibly have happened any other way.

Inspiring hope is one thing - taking action is another.

He made a good effort to address every issue we are facing but it turned out too long and a bit confusing. There were parts where they showed the audience and at one point there were some confused faces. I knew I wasn't alone, lol. Anyhow, nothing new really. In short, America is still a leader and a force to be reckoned with. We need to unite and forge our way forward by working together and by being there for each other in the time of need. Lets show that pioneer spirit. The nay-sayers are against the common good and just don't know what they are talking about. Times have changed. Old thinking was proven wrong. We simply need a different approach and lots of government oversight in order for us to be safe and sound and prosperous... Only that way will America be superior again in all areas... I think that sums it up;)

There was a lot of "we" statements and very few "I" statements - I had hoped to hear more in the way of a personal commitment on his part to fulfill his campaign promises.

Well from what I gather, it's a 'we' effort to get things done. So if things don't work out, then 'we' failed, not he himself;) If he can't accomplish greatness, it's our fault, because we didn't do our job to get things going. In a way he is right, we are the masters of our own destiny and can't wait for the government to do the things for us... but didn't we know that already? It's a lot about empowering people. I don't think that he noticed that people expect him to do it. The key is the 'we' factor. All those who don't pull on the same string are the outcasts of society. He is appealing to our herd mentality there;)

Yep there were a lot of "we"s getting thrown around in that speech and he is right. But I am interested in what he has planned....what scarifices he is going to ask us to make.

Hi lil, I didn't listen to his speech. I haven't watched any of the inaugeration. My grandmother did listen to his speech and she said that he never mentioned the Lord in his speech! This country is going downhill fast because we continue to push God out! I'm praying so hard for our nation! We need the Lord Jesus Christ so very much! I know that God is still in control no matter what and He will take care of those who love Him. Please pray for our nation and the world. God bless.

I don't know what to make of it, it was the usual sort of flowery figurative speech he usualy delivers. I recorded it though. I may go through it later line by line for an analysis. Pretty much for my preliminary assesment, same ol' vague flowery Obama speech.
