I beleive that shuting down Gitmo is the(first) wrong thing to do when we are at war with terrorist all over the world. Where are you going to detain these 240 or so terrorist. Other countries don't want them and we certainly don't want them on our U.S. soils. Where the hell is your brain at Obama? Answer is: Execute them all. Now that's a great idea. Convicted of war crimes aganist The United States. You are certainly starting off on the wrong foot. That is one of many reasons why I didn't vote for you. I would have locked down the Mexican boarders. and sent a memo to all the illegals to pack it up and head south back to Mexico. You Have 90 days to comply or we will personally escort you to the boarder. As of his first day in the White House, I have begun to keep a manuscript of events, changes, promises he keeps, and promises he doesn't keep. In his years of the White House with the 44th president of the U.S.

Most of these men haven't even been charged with anything let alone given a trial, and your answer is to execute them all? I really have to hope you have more love in your heart than that. As for the war on terrorism, as you know, terrorism has existed for quite some time and if things in the world don't change, it doesn't show any end in sight. Terrorist groups do not act in interest of a sovereign state. They are NGOs. The war on terrorism has no end in sight. The more terrorists we kill (or execute), the more that are created. When people see their family friends and neighbors being killed and unjustly oppressed or tortured, they join onto the cause due to desperation and anger. That does not by any means mean that we should just forget about people who wish to kill innocent civilians. However, they should be treated as any other murderer who is an endangerment to society, not as a war criminal. All people deserve freedom from arbitrary arrest and a fair trial.

Execute them all on assumption of guilt? That's not justice. The French tried that back in 1879 and started a bloodbath of paranoia, fear, and mass beheadings. I understand your fear, but we must rise above this type of tyrannical paranoia. It undermines the higher values of democracy that we must embrace if we're all to remain free. Yes, bring them to justice, but follow our own rules in doing so. Gitmo has violated many of them, as far as I understand. And the venom you vent towards immigrants - I can only assume you are 100% Native American, otherwise you'd recognize that you're only here thanks to a liberal USA immigration policy. Besides, current wisdom is that the USA economy has tanked so far, immigrants are staying away in droves.

I agree. He has yet to give any kind of clue as to what he plans to do with the detainee's or prisoner--whatever you want to call them. This is sending the wrong kind of message to terrorists!

Your're looking for the negative and you will surely find it. As for shutting down the prison....it was illegal. They have been there forever and not yet stood trial. They have been tortured and we don't even know that they are terrorists...they are suspects. He has only been in office a couple of days...keep your notes and I hope that you are wrong.

I disagree with Obama's shutting down of Gitmo as well. Releasing hundreds of potential terrorist into America cannot be a good idea. Not only that, but allowing some of them to avoid their home countries because of what will happen to them. It seems like we are helping criminals hide out to me. Its also scary to know that the people that interrogate these terrorists cannot use any scare tactics. How do you get someone to give you information if you cannot get close to them or threaten them somehow? They have already proven a willingness to die for their cause. So they obviously won't be threatened by someone sitting in a chair asking them questions. I understand we won't catch every terrorist, but the information from one terrorist could save thousands of lives on our own soil. So basically, give them a fair trial (its the American way). If its proven they are terrorists, get the information you need by using scare tactics (with or without water). It may not be nice, but it will save innocent lives. I find it hard to believe that the CIA and related organizations waste their time by bringing in random people from the Middle East. There is a reason they are imprisoned.
