I think my body needs detoxing. Where should I start?

I've been feeling lethargic and tired, moody, irritable, bloated, very very gassy, constant headaches, potruding belly, have gained weight and just feeling yucky lately. I've never gone through a detox before and was wondering where I should start and what products would be best for detoxing. If anyone has any suggestions please post them here. I seriously think my body needs cleansing - I've been stinking out our apartment bigtime LOL I know something is going on but not sure what. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

water lot's of water, also v8 fusion has a full days supply of fruits and veggies and it taste good, not the "splash" the fusion.i did that all bran cereal thing for a week with skim milk, that will clean ya out, or you can go to a store and pay big bucks for something that dosen't work as well as water, those nutrition store's will sell you a 600% mark up fiber pill or mixture and don't go for any crazy name additives most are just caffine labled under guarara, or some other heart pounding caffine thing ,plus that stuff just loves to eat away at kidneys. when i was younger i drank all that ripped fuel and mexrx stuff by the hands full, so i got big--lost a kidney to cancer but i was big and clean inside, it's not worth it. down the h20

I forgot we bought V8 fusion yesterday, thanks for the reminder. We have two bottles in mango - love the stuff. OK I'll stick to a water and juice fast/detox for a day or maybe two and see how I go. Thanks for the advice max, appreciate it :) Thank you too Trinidad :)

Thanks for your input digerati. I know I haven't been eating properly lately so it could be my diet that's causing all these problems. I will get myself checked out though, thanks again.

hello mommy, It sounds to me that you are having some gastrointestinal problem. my suggestion for you is better to go for a check-up with your doctor first to rule out what is happening with your body if there isn't anything bad then you may go on with the cleansing detox therapy. i have done a period of Lemonade Cleansing therapy which is good for gastric ulcer people. but there are some contraindication like person with gall bladder stone are contraindicated. also this sort of therapy have different recipe for diabetic and hypertensive people. so i would suggest to find out your blood sugar level and blood pressure as well. better to do check up first before starting the detox thingy.

I am actually due for a physical and will be making an appointment if not this week, next week. Weather has been bad these last two days and schools have been closed. Once the weather surpasses I'll be making that call. Others have suggested drinking water, juice for a day or two and see how that goes. I tried it today but couldn't resist the coffee and soup and feeling a little less bloated and gassy. Thanks for your response lovesummer.

Hi maddysmommy, I agree with some here, try to observe healthy diet and maybe you can also exercise! I do that when I am also feeling so yucky! Try to listen to all your favorite music and relax....Then eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and just think positive!

Thanks checapricorn and classycat. I know I have to research more into detoxing but others have suggested I fast or just drink water and tea for a day and then eat veges and fruit the next and go from there. I'm still going to get a full check up just incase. thanks for your input.

That's probably a good idea. You may want to go to curezone.com It is a huge message forum on all kinds of cleanses, detoxes, and parasitic cleans info. If nothing else just check it out, and bookmark it for future reading. My daughter told me about it. She'd been having problems and pain and had a proceedure done, and the dr. told her that she'd have to have her gallbladder out. She went to curezone, and read a bunch and asked questions. She learned the diet she needed to go on and how to do a gallbladder cleanse. She did that, and never did have to have the surgery. One of my favorite forums there is called: "Ask Dr. Sutter." You can find that pretty easy by googling: curezone ask dr sutter, and you'll find it. Hope this has helped in some small way, and that you get to feeling better soon. Have a geat week. Classy Cat

Hi Rachel, Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I recently had myself a check-up at the doctor. They found I don't have enough white blood cells. They gave me iron tablets (I think you call them iron, we say ijzer) and guess what? That so called depression of mine is as good as gone. My headaches are gone, I am more awake, better concentration, not as moody, still need to loose the weight I gained from the other medicine. But, I have been taking these iron tablets for over a month. Yesterday I went back to see the doctor that had me on all that medication. She was surprised to see I was looking and acting so well. hahaha! If she would have checked my blood to begin with, everything would have been a lot easier. As for the detoxing thing, I would rather drink a lot of water for a day or two. Eat more onions and garlic. I don't believe in those things, it is not natural.(detoxing) Makes you too clean inside, where as you are more venerable to viruses and other bacteria. Your body protects you. And will throw out what it does not need. It is like with children. Keep them too clean, they get sick faster. Your decision of course. I would not do it, hahaha! Anyway, my advise to you is to get your blood checked. Maybe you have the same thing I have? Does not hurt to have your blood tested. Good luck, take care. Margajoe.

Hi Margajoe, You know, come to think of it, I am due for a full physical soon. I must check with my doctor and book myself in this week if I can. I'm just really bloated and stinking out the place and craving for snacks which I normally don't crave for. I'm lethargic which is normally not like me, but i'm wondering it's because of the mad hours I worked during the Christmas time and now my body is winding down from it all. I haven't taken my vitamin pills in a long time, maybe I should start that back up again. I just thought with all the gas I'm letting out my body needs a clean LOL Thanks for your advice. I'm going to call my doctor for a full physical. I'm due for it too. Hugs Rachel

Oops I seem to be going off the topic. The 6 months medication, is what made me so fat. I have not taken them for over 3 months. The iron tablets I have been taking over a month. This is helping me, not the medication I took before for 6 months. Hope I am making sense, I think it is time for me to go to bed, hahaha! It is 6 am. I have been up the whole night. And I was going to go to bed early, hahaha! Take care.

hi :), its Highly recommmended from me that you need to focus on healthy diet than any detoxifying products. I can say its the most healthy way, make it a habit to include fruits and vegetables on everyday meals. Try fruit juices like pineapple, apple, mango which will cleanses your system. High fiber will clean it all, as a matter of fact it will help you to lose pounds. Go fo fiber, oatmeals, fruits, vegetables, fruit juices, adequate water intake and exercise whether outdoor or indoor, just the physical activities you enjoy. Doing extra chores at home will help too. snob fastfood hehehehe. i am advising you because of my personal experience, i made in back to shape last quarter of 2008 :)and i dont get a lot of depression moments now, i think its because of my active physical activity and healthy diet :) Go gilr, you can do it!

WHy dn't you try drinking plenty of water early in the morning without even brushing your teeth, my hubby did so and it did wonders for him and he actually reduced a lot of weight too. Water is a natural detoifying agent and will help you tremendously, try two glasses at first and gradually increase it to have atleast one and a half litre of water early morning and see the difference.

To start with one should always start with the cleaning of negative thoughts from mind, they are the biggest toxins one can accumulate and all the other health problems start from there. So first start cleaning your thoughts by replacing negative ones with the positive ones.

i did get very overweight myself, too, after having undergone a six-month treatment for an illness. it is one of the side effects of the medicines that i have been taking for that entire six months period. the compulsion to keep on eating and eating was just too difficult to handle. then i have learned through nutrionist that it's the hunger globules that are causing this in me. so, i went to the doctor and got a prescription for xenical (orlistat). after six months of taking it, the unreasonable hunger pangs were gone. then i started taking fibrous fruits from early morning until it is past ten (papayas, apples and grapes are the best ones, until now i do this). so far, i have lost 14 kilograms in a matter of more than two years...it is ranging from a half to a kilogram a month.

I have heard of xenical but I don't think it's for me. It's not so much my weight but the other symptoms - I just feel my body needs a cleanse you know? Im going to water and juice detox for a day and see how it goes. Thanks trinidad.

I would have gone for exercise instead. Go easy on food. Sweat it out. Unlike our house which does not have a built-in detoxifier, our liver is responsible for all the detoxifying activities in the body so I guess we need to trust our liver will do a good job. Coupled with light meals, sweating it out, cleaning your apartment and doing jobs DIY, in my opinion, is a cheap and easy way to "detoxify". Just my 2 cents worth :p

Happy New Year Whyaskq :) those are good tips thank you. I'm starting out with just a liquid cleansing for a day and then eat veges and fruits. I'm sure it's because of my diet that's why I'm feeling like this. I don't eat enough fibre nor drink enough water, so I'll start with that. I'm due for a physical anyway so I'll be talking with my GP about this as well. Thank you my friend.

Interesting disussion maddy. I do not have a solution to your problem but I am very interested in the responses you'll get here. It can be quite uncomfortable when one starts feeling that way. Detoxing is so important to get the body back into tip top shape. I hope something here works for you .

Forgot to mention that fasting and drinking water works for me . It is said that fasting is one of the best ways to rejuvenate the body allowing it time to cleanse itself.

Two books that should be in your library at home, Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss and The Body/Mind Purification Program by Dr. Leon Chaitow. Both will give you answers you are seeking. In Kloss's book you will find guidelines to detoxing and fasting. In Dr. Leon's book is a very complete guide for what you are trying do. You can get these books at the local library and even see them on-line. Let me know how it goes!

You may run into a problem with Dr Leon's book. If not at the library check your local health food store or book store (like Borders, barnes & Noble) in in self help/health section. I really like this book because it maps out different options, i.e. 10 day or 30 day detox diet, breathing exercises, aerobics, meditation, massage, water therapies and much more. This book focuses on detoxing. As for the other book it will become apparent when you see it. It is a great reference book.

Others have suggested I try fasting or just drinking water, juice and or tea for a day and then eat veges and fruits the next. Cut out all fatty foods and see how I feel after that. I should also get moving as that might help too. Good luck!

I would start with just eating fruits and vegitables for a week. Don't drink pop. Have water and juice. After the first week add lean meat. try this and see if you feel better.

I agree that the detoxing programs and products are unnecessary for most people, but if you want to jump start a more natural clean up, try fasting for one day. Drink only water, then the next day try to eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid sweets and grain products for a couple of days and then add meat back in slowly. If nothing else, you might get a clue as to what's causing your intestinal distress. For myself, I discovered that wheat was causing a lot of gas. I still eat it, but not as much and I know what will happen, so I am prepared. For a quick fix, there's Gas-X or something like that, a product that relieves bloating and lower intestinal gas.

You can go on juice and fruit diet for three days(under some expert's supervision),it'll not only detoxify your body, you'll be rejuvenated and feel fresh and exuberant. I've written an article on fruit juice diet in www.associatedcontent.com, but at the moment, the link is not working. Anyway you can consult a dietician. Wishing you good health!

I suggest you start "cleaning" your diet. With all the things you describe about what you are feeling, I think that the food that you eat might be the one causing it to you. Although I'm not a doctor or a specialist in this matter, I've researched about this before since I wanted to lose some weight off before (though I'm already thin). Evaluate what you eat. Do you think you're eating healthy food, do you think you're eating a balanced diet, do you think you consume enough fruits and veggies, do you think you're diet is clean because you're eating food with very little preservatives or none at all.. ETC. Try assessing what you eat. Food PLAYS a vital role on how our body will be and how we feel. I suggest you up the fresh food in your diet then eliminate the not healthy things. I believe that our body is a great machine because it can really detoxify itself without the help of detoxifiers like some people sell. The weakness or the problem is that, what we ingest or take it can and will affect our body. Try eating more fruits, drink ENOUGH WATER (8-10 8ounces, eat more veggies, sweat in any way you can (one of the best detoxifiers) and eliminate the wastes in your diet.. do this for a week, try this.. I'm sure you'll feel a lot better.
