Life is full of surprises. It seems that when everything is plain sailing something crops up in your life. It seems that an unexpected hefty bill which you have to pay always crops up when you think you have settled your financial issues. Or it might be a pleasant surprise, a relative or a friend visiting from a foreign country! What type of surprises did you have lately? Where they pleasant or not? These little surprises, whether good or otherwise, that we get from time to time keep us alert. If for example it was a hefty unexpected bill, that would not be a surprise but a shock actually. The only time it wouldn’t be a shock was if something went wrong with the machinery and it had to be repaired or replaced NOW. We have had a couple of nice surprises lately actually. One is that I am currently doing one trip to Queensland each week and there is always a back load for me, which means I get that bit extra money so I can either do a couple of short haul trips or only work the 3 daysd each week. But if I can do those 2 trips each week, that is basically all I do and it means that I can work out the times so that I get the most benefit, i.e. drive the maximum allowable hours each day. So I can drive most of the way one day, the rest the 2nd day and then have the new trailers connected and get a few hours of the return journey out of the way. The other good thing is that we have just been asked to increase the tonnage on one of our contracts, as the customer is very impressed with our product. They are getting a new product from us this year and they have had 2 deliveries so far and now they want extras in addition to what they previously contracted for. It is not a huge lot extra but means we did the right thing when we planted some extra plants just in case something like this happened. And the best bit is that this particular customer always pays within 7 days and we never have to chase them up.

I couldn't agree more. Take a blank wall that seems impenetrable. A simple thought could make that wall go away. I have seen this happen to me time and again. Cheers!!

I am being constantly surprised by the amount of work there is to my new job. I am exhausted. I never go home on time. It is pleasant to be making more money, though.

Hi ronaldinu, I haven't any surprises, but we are expecting a cheque for a good some of money as a compensation for my husband when he had an accident last year, he was knocked off his bike by a hit and run driver, never managed to catch him. Tamara

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Surprises? Well my niece went into labor a month early so now I am a new Auntie a whole month sooner and now the baby can be at her own baby shower. Now that is a nice surprise. But her other daughter ended up in the hospital in another state with her Cystic Fibrosis problems with my sister because my niece was in the hospital almost 2 weeks before having the baby and I am hoping all goes well and she will be home soon.

I agree that this allways seems to be the case. The last thing that came up was when I thought I had everything settled with getting back to college and I got there to take a test, and I had misread something about applying for the test. I could still sign up at that time but it would cost me a 10 euro fine. It's not that much, but it really bothered me. It was such an unnessairy pay because I misunderstood the post about signing up; it had become obligatory for some exams and others have been taken of the list and aren't obligatory (to make things easier). So now I have to find that post again and make sure I haven't misread any other stuff. It just makes me insecure about what I have read so I will have to reread a lot.

Mine was not pleasant at all. Tax refund got taken from me when I was really going to need it this year. I was finally going to see a break in the bleakness with it and then it was snatched away.

my most recent surprise wasn't a good one, my paycheck wasn't as big as I expected it to be so I can't pay what I wanted on my credit card bill. I also had a good surprise of a friend coming to visit me.

Yeah, life seems to throw many curves. I am looking for some pleasant surprises, because all of mine have not been so pleasant. My husband is/was a salesman and worked on commissions only. Our car broke down, he needs the car for work, so he was out of work for the whole week, because the mechanic was too busy to get to him. When the car was fixed, it cost $160.00, that was a blow, because I lost my job, and my husband's commissions are not that great because of people canceling. We were going to pay for the car out of his pay check, well for two weeks he did not receive a check because of people cancelling their orders. Then this past Friday, the company let him go, because he was not making his quota. WHAT A BLOW. Now, the car is still not paid for, and our rent is due and we do not have all of the money to pay. Those are examples of my bad surprises.

Hi ronald...just last week I got a surprise not of the good though..it was my mobile bill!! It was the heftiest it has ever been and though it is normally paid straight from the bank I had to stop it so I could come to an agreement with the company of how I would pay it off, they were understanding about it and agreed to help me, thankfully I have nearly paid it off now but am definitley NOT going to let it happen again!! blessings littleowl

I haven't had any surprises lately. Mostly though when I see my toddler do new things. Things that I don't expect. It is definitely a pleasant experience especially for me as a mother.

The one surprise I got today, was the Cherokee Nation Health Services, okay'd my husband's referral to see a orthopedic surgeon, we were really counting on this going through because otherwise he don't have any other health insurance, and there would be no way we could pay for it ourselves. His knees are so bad, that eventually he will have to have knee replacements, and if he could see a orthopedist he can do some laser surgery and try to fix whats wrong now, and it would give him another 20 yrs. or so before he has to get something else done. I was so glad and surprised when they said it was approved, and not only the first visit, but every visit he will have after that is approved for payment also. Its very surprising, because its hard to get them to pay anything for you. It was a good day today...
