I hope it was a good experience or lesson, not something you were forced to do because people weren't nice.

One of my biggest concerns in high school was, what happens next? What is life like out there on your own? A teacher in one of my classes perhaps had the biggest impact on dispelling any fear I had by talking to the class about that very thing. What is life like out in the big world. She expressed the knowledge that many students were concerned about that big unknown and she wanted us to know that even though life has it's up's and downs, for the most part, it's not that bad. In fact it is an exciting adventure if you let it be. More than anything else I learned this stayed with me as I went forward. Guess what....she was right on. I am 68 years old now and looking at life from here she was very right about it. Life has it's challenges for everyone but for the most part it is a great ride. But it is only what you make of it. As a very famous man once said the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. The other thing I learned was that we never ever should stop learning. Ever. It is a gift we should always treasure.

I love amazing stories like this. Hopefully there are more teachers like the one you had in school. And what a great lesson to take with you. You're right, my friend. We should never stop learning. Have a wonderful week JB.

I learned many sweet skills in high school. Although I already was a pretty good tetherball player I was able to hone my tetherball skills in high school and now I'm an awesome tetherball player. I also perfected my drawing skills in high school and I can probably draw the coolest looking Liger in the Gem State. The bestest skill I learned in high school was how to dance. People say I'm obnoxious and lazy, uneducated, and my opinon means nuts, but I know that I'm a real good dancer! Being able to have awesome dancing skills comes in handy in nearly any situation, from politics to social gatherings.

Never to get into peer pressure especially at the time of tests and examination .The way my friends behaved ,it was like some big thing for them, but all that you got to be just study .there is no other better strategies than that .

Definitely a good lesson to not cave into peer pressure. Kids still deal with that one today.

Well... in a lot of ways since I have been out of High School now for almost 27 yrs. sometimes it is hard to think about to much about that. But I do know that I did learn a lot about life, and have been able to take some of the many things I learned there to heart. I also learned about friendships and how important it is to work for things as well. This is actually when I started with my Love for Writing and it helped me to develop a more desire to eventually want to do a lot more with my writing as well.

Oh me too. I learned the value of friendship and 10th grade English gave me the desire to write. I'm sure it was the teacher. She was very young and really loved her students. Thanks for dropping by, my friend. Hope your having a great week.

I learned that I was doing the right thing all along, by not following the crowd. Nothing wrong with being a loaner, and not really being interested in the activities of people my age. If I am not involved in their crap they can'tget me into trouble. LOL I'm glad those years are over.

It's that peer pressure thing again. You're right, not getting involved with their "stuff" certainly kept you out of trouble.

high school was so far away for me that I don't remember anything that I learned back then that I carried with me all through life.

I guess for most of us we can say we learned how to learn and we can read and write. If nothing else.

Well, I'd hope there is more than "the one thing", but one of the best life lessons I learned in high school was a saying from Mr. Thomas, my DCT teacher. "You won't always get paid for what you know, but you will always pay for what you don't know."

What I learned is this, study hard. Study hard and have a good grades. It really helps if you study hard in highschool as the subjects in college are very complicated. In highschool, teachers can really help students, they even had tutorial but in college it is all by yourself. You will do extra research and professor are not willing to help their students as they have the thinking that they can stand on their own as they are matured people. Study hard and the hardwork will pay when you enter college.

The one thing I learned in High School, that I benefited from in my life? Actually there was one thing. In the Biology lesson, I believe it was. I was in Junior High. (I did not go to High school in Canada. They have different names for school in Holland) I was 14 years old. And the teacher asked a weird question. She wanted to know who (in the class room), did not love themselves. I thought that was a stupid question at the time. And I was one of the two that raised her hand. Then the teacher said something I really could not understand. "Well, if you don't love yourself, you don't love anyone else either." Because it all starts with yourself. Of course I did not agree, I believed I was to love everyone else, just not me. It still took me a lot of years to figure this out. But, somehow her voice was still there, reminding me to love myself. Take care, groetjes.

I think there's a lot of truth in that M. It's a valuable lesson. Look at it this way, if we don't like ourselves we would probably not like others, or be jealous of them. Ach, it's hard being wise in a few sentences.

Hahaha! Well, yes, if you don't love (like) yourself, why should somebody else? If you don't respect yourself, why should someone else respect you? Everyone wants to be loved, and we all need respect. Groetjes veel liefs.

The one thing in high school that really has benefited me through life would be...my Speech Communication class. I use to be so scared to go in front of people or even order a pizza over the phone. Now, I could care less. Im pretty good with people now. Im not as shy and people seem to get along with me more now. I have a lot more confidence about myself and my self esteem rised a lot.

I never had that class offered in High School. It would have helped me a lot.
