People who manage to make bad coffee.

There's people who manage to make a bad pot of coffee everytime...be it too strong too weak or something else. Do you know someone who does this? Are you someone who does this. When i used farm water rather than bottled water my coffee used to taste bad...now for coffee i use bottled water at home. I do..my boss (still my boss as the lady i was partnering with backed out of the deal and I'm looking into going it alone but haven't committed until i talk to a few people) somehow he manages to make even Tim Horton's coffee taste icky. I think he makes it too weak. I try every morning to get in before he does so i can make the coffee so its drinkable. I made it this morning and its sooo good (i think i needed it).

Confession time. I can't make coffee to save my life and have never seen the point in trying too hard. I don't actually like coffee that much and more than two cups a day makes me literally sick to my stomach. Over here we drink a lot of the instant variety. Oh we have coffee makers and percolators. Usually they are in the cupboard along with that must have electric garlic press and automatic scoop the skin off the rice pudding machine! However, one teaspoon instant coffee works fine for me every time. Just add boiling water and lots of cold milk to cool it down.

I have never been able to make coffee that didn't have something wrong with it. I've either thrown or given away every coffee pot I have ever had thinking maybe it was just inferior pots. I finally just gave up and started drinking tea and having the occasional take out coffee as a treat. The only thing that I found worked for me was a coffee press. It was nice and simple and as long as you didn't use scalding hot water it always tasted like coffee. Then I dropped the carafe and busted it, that was the end of that. I would love to try one of those Tassimo coffee systems, they look absolutely fool proof.

I've never seen or heard of a coffee press...it sounds kind of neat! Never seen the Tassimo Coffee systems either. I'm going to go look those up just to see now!

The people I know who make really lousy coffee, it's because they don't measure it. I can't tell you how many people I watch pick up the packet of coffee and just pour or shake some into the filter basket! That's the worst thing you can do... you're always going to have too much or too little, I think. They sell coffee measures in the dollar store! LOL It's not hard to get one. It might take a couple of pots to get the right balance between water and coffee for each specific machine but, once you know that, it's not so hard to make a better pot. The other bad coffee I've had is from people who go nuts at the whole coffee bean displays in the supermarket. They will "mix and match" coffee beans trying to make their own secret blend LOL Sometimes, that will just be horrible. Best to get one type of bean, in the style of roast you seem to enjoy, and practice with that first before you get all creative with the flavors *grin*

Ohh blending your own beans. I've accidently gotten two different flavours mixed and they tasted horrible! I use a pretty measuring spoon at home. Work i use plastic spoon.

I make great coffee. People come from all over the place for my coffee. I suppose the fact that I serve it with a REALLY good brandy has nothing to do with it.........? ROFL

Never heard this theory before but I'm gonna test it ! Going to drink for a week coffe without anything in it, and see the result :). Thanks for the idea, it's quite an experiment because I never drink coffee without anything in it hehe

My mom's brother always complains that my coffee is too strong and I didn't understand why until we spent a week at his house. I couldn't even drink his coffee. It looked more like really strong iced tea and tasted burnt. He likes to drink it "black" but there was nothing about that coffee that was black...medium reddish brown was more like it. I guess it wasn't "bad" coffee if it was the way he liked it but I had to go a week without coffee because I couldn't drink it. And it was silly for me to make a 12-cup pot of coffee the way I like it because I'd only drink one or two cups of it I considered buying a pack of the bottled frappucinos from Starbucks just so I could have coffee in the mornings.

Dont care too much for coffee meself. More of a tea drinker (being english. When I do drink it or make it, I always prefer to have my coffee strong. There is nothing worse than cofee flavoured milk (as like to call it) - By this I mean a coffee with only a little coffee granuales in it. Horrid!!!! Nescafe gold blend all the way... v.v.v strong and whitener not milk. Keeps the coffee taste in much better.

I've made "weak" coffee before when something went wrong with either too little coffee or too much water. As for others, I've only had a problem with "bad coffee" at restaurants. It's all fixable, if you know what to do. I just add flavors or half/half. If it's going to be "weak", at least it would taste good.
