How many hours do you sleep at night?

February 9, 2009 12:37pm CST
I love my sleep and like to have 8 hours sleep. I don't seem to get a full 8 hours and I feel so tired in the mornings when I don't. Do you think 8 hours is too much? How many hours do you have? Was just wondering, Thanks:)

Hi there Lucky, When it comes to sleep I think everyone is indeed different. They also say that the older you get perhaps the less sleep you need. I need around 9 hours of sleep each day to feel well rested. I may need more sleep then most as I do have a couple of health issues but I think somewhere around seven to nine HRS is average. With that being said I had a 2 1/2 hour nap yesterday afternoon. I never sleep in the afternoon because then I will not sleep that night. I did yesterday though and I guess I needed it because I certainly didn't have any trouble falling asleep last night and I certainly feel better this morning. To answer the question no I don't think you to sleep too much in fact, I would hazard a guess to say that most people do not sleep enough. Until next time, happy Mylotting!

I love naps!! I sometimes have a nap when my baby has a nap but then I can't sleep that night either. I heard about when your older you need less sleep. I know people older than me who sleep 5 hours a night and go work fine. Hope you have enough sleep tonight:)

I like to get about 8 hours as well, but sometimes it just isn't possible - like this whole week. I like to sleep, but I have a problem taking naps in the day - I have to be completely exhausted or sick...the last time I was completely exhausted was two hours of sleep in a 48 hour period. I don't get too cranky if I don't get the whole 8, but my brain doesn't quite comprehend what it usually does.

Wow two hours of sleep in 48 hours!! I couldn't do that! I think no matter how many hours sleep I get I'm still tired in the mornings. I'm more awake in the evenings and at night I have to force myself to go to sleep!

I try to sleep between 7 and 9 hours a night. That's what I try to do every night. although it's not always possible, I really try not to go below 7 hours a night.

I don't like to get less than 7 hours either. I go on the internet till late at night so sometimes I end up have 6 hours.

Hi luckyangel78,I personally only sleep around three to four hours a night,Some people will think this is a very small amount of sleep but for me it seems to be fine,I never feel tired throughout the day.I have heard that eight hours is the average but each individual's sleep times are totally down to them,If i slept for eight hours i would feel groggy the next day from having to much sleep.I wonder if anyone out there has less that three to four hours a night?

I sleep 8 hours, it is enough to get my tiredness away and rest with all 100%. On the weekends I sleep 9-10 hours, it's a treat for me!

Realistically, I get about 5-6 hours of sleep (which is definitely not healthy and leaves me very tired throughout the day), although on the weekends I aim for 10-12 (just to make up for the lost time during the week).

Good idea to catch up at the weekends! Some people only sleep 6 hours and are fine the next day. I suppose its what your body is used to.

No,8 hours is not too much. The needed amount of sleep depends of some factors like your age and your kind of work. For example,I dont make lots of physical work, and maybe for that reason I am ok with only 6 or seven hours of sleeping when I am healthy
