Who has had foundation repairs done on their house?

We have major foundation problems, which also lead to other problems, like window and doors that stick or won't close properly. We are having work done this week to repair the foundation. Have you had this done? Were you pleased with the outcome?

We have not, but my parents just had to have major work done on theirs last summer. The man that came out to fix it is fairly sure that it was caused from the tornado that came through about 2 years ago, and it just got worse with time. It cost them about $3,000 to have it repaired, but insurance paid all but $500 since they determined it was from storm damage.
What's funny is that there didn't seem to be any visible damage from the tornado, even though the neighbors had part of their roof ripped off.

Our problem are from settling and not covered by insurance, so we are footing the bill and I wish it were only $3,000. I hadn't heard of foundation damage from a tornado before. It is amazing to see tornado damage...one house will be untouched and the one next to it will have major damage.

It moved my parents house about 3 inches completely off the foundation. This caused everything to be off center, and it put "Unnecessary stress" on the edge because too much weight from a lode bearing wall was pressing down on the outside of the foundation. It wasn't enough that we even realized it until floors began to sag by the wall in the kitchen!
