He can some times start by sitting up on his side which is pretty good .If I sit him up does o.k. for a couple of minutes ,but then too excited ,and likes to slam back ,and falls down have to watch so he does not hurt himself .

My son used a walker from an early age and I think that helped a lot. I also propped him up on pillows. My daughter was early doing everything and I really did not do much with her at all. She figured it all out by 5 months. Even getting to a sitting position all by herself.

I used to prop my kids up with a lot of pillows, behind them, and all around them, that way, they could sit up, but if they happened to slump over, they would not get hurt. Of course, I stayed close by for extra protection. Practice and encouragement, in time, he will be doing much more than sitting up by himself.
