When you need extra cash...

Hello fellow AC members. When you need extra money, do you find yourself scurrying to write extra articles on AC? Sometimes when I need a little extra money for the month or for an unexpected bill/expense that arose, I will strive to write at least 2-4 articles per day for a week since they pay up-front for most articles. I earn quite a decent income there. Also, I will try to write a bit extra here in MyLot, although I would have to wait until they mass pay everyone. AC is a sure thing with instant payouts after they review your content. How many articles do you tend to write on average in a week? In a month? Do you always go for up-front or sometimes write things like poems and such that only receive performance pays? Once in awhile I will submit a poem, a recipe, an editorial, or something else that doesn't usually get up-front payments, but the majority of things I submit are for up-front pay. In fact, I am broke and trying to catch up on bills so I plan to try to write at least 10-20 articles this week, but it will take some discipline! Please share your experiences!

I wish I could write that many articles in a day. I am lucky to get one, maybe 2 a week. I am not a fast writer/researcher as some. It takes awhile for research, cause I like to be super sure of facts. I hear a lot of people say they only write what they know, but people only know so much. I have been dealing with an illness, so I am incredibly broke and at the same time it makes it hard for me to do what I need to do to make money, write articles. AC sent a challenge for an extra $10, in addition to upfront, to me in Dec. to write 15 in the month of Dec. I was desperate for the extra $10, so I tried really hard and did it. I think I could have done better on the articles, but I was still proud that even with my foggy head I was able to complete the challenge. I love that AC is pretty quick to pay, no waiting for a check or a certain payout amount. I always submit mine for upfront, since I reaally need the money and I don't get insane page view like some peope do. I wish you lots of luck on your challenge of writing 10-20 articles a week!!!

Thanks. I agree. They are fair, pay quickly, etc. I tend to research things that interest me, such as herbs, illnesses, exercises, etc. I will open about 3-4 websites and read them, then write my article while referencing back to the sites. I can write an article in anywhere between 30 mins to an hour. Best wishes to you, hope you earn big! -- thanks for the response!

How do you give credit to sources? Do you use "according to" and a text link in the article and list them again at the bottom, or do you write without linking and just use the sources in the list of sources? That's been a puzzle to me with AC.

If I quote I write "according to" or something citing the source, and again at the bottom as well.

When you say that they pay up front do you mean proper money or just a few cents? Surely they want to ensure some kind of editorial control over what is written. Otherwise u cld rite enny ol stuf cooldnt u?

Associated Content pays me an average of $4 per article. Of course, they must be proper and they do have guidelines. You cannot just write a bunch of words or nonsense...

I only get page views on ac because I am not american. So it doesn't much matter but it seems that I cannot write more than two articles for ac a day, I just don't have the energy. Now when I have an actual project with other paying places that pay me a lot more, I can bang out 5 articles a day. what is your name on ac and are we connected?

well, i must say that i try to post at least 10 posts / day, but in the last days, i posted at least 20 post / days. I want to get at least $10 this month. If i`ll get more, it`s ok, but not less, because i`ll not be payed. So, when i need extra cash, i just ask for my mom, but i try to earn all the money for myself. Hope that i`ll manage to do that in the next months. I`m working at my own professional website. Hope that i`ll have it a.s.a.p.

I have so much going on I find it difficult to discipline myself and sit down to write articles. I can manage about one per week. That's it. Good for you for being able to write so much!!

With just one article per day and a few poems and recipes here and there, I've been making around 4 bucks per article and close to a hundred per month. My performance pay is at about 10 bucks per month now and I'm a clout 8. And I was awarded 2008 award for top 1000 on hits, and I didn't even know there was an award. I had one really great 9,000 hit article, several at 2,000, and even the poems got some hits. My recipes do about a quarter per month on some. They sometimes decline my research ones, mostly because they are not to guidelines. So I leave them there for performance. But my human interest articles, inspirational articles, and educational articles are paid up front, some in the low 3's and some in the upper 4's. I suppose I could do more than an article a day, but that would make it seem too much like work.

It takes an appreciable time to write a qualitative article. Writing two articles daily can make sixty articles in a month and these articles, if found good qulity, can bring one good income. I try to write one quality article daily but it is not possible daily. But one thing I may say that if you write more articles in a day, the quality of the articles will reduce. So take care! Thanks and have a good day!

I try to pick up Calls for Content sometimes when I need a little extra money to go towards a bill or other unexpected expenses. I usually only write two or three articles a month depending on my work load, if I need extra money, and there are Calls for Content that look interesting to me. I'm dropping the class that I'm taking this semester so I am planning on setting some better AC goals for myself to improve the PPV I get from them each month. Every extra penny helps in uncertain times like this!

I know this may be a bit of a downer and a surprise to you but companies outside of the internet, and within it pay a lot more then Associated Content does. I'm talking way above the $4 or whatever that they pay. I'm talking a pay per word scale. Yeah, they still exist. Whenever I start writing i'll only send my "recycled" articles to them as in, the ones that I know would never be accepted elsewhere. It's not always easy to find a buyer but it's better to look first before tossing up your article on a site like Associated content. If you're interested, I know about four-five fairly huge big databases of places to submit your articles for a lot more then a mealy $4.

Bethany, Good idea. After getting sick for a bit, my computer did not even get turned on. I like AC and even have a few people who follow me. I have found it is not as easy to get caught up once you have fallen behind but I am working on it. How did the AC experiment go? Ainge

I used to submit extra articles to AC when I needed extra cash, but that has changed recently with circumstances in my life. I still try to write for AC whenever I can, and keep the cash I earn on reserve, in case I get into a bind. I really like that AC pays you relatively quickly after you submit and are published, it's a great system, especially if you have several articles pending for approval at once. I think I've started to average about only three or four articles a month, but I'm hoping to increase that in the next few months to a year, depending on how events in my life go! Good luck writing, keep up the good work :)
