Other People's Bad Habits! What Annoys YOU?

Do you have someone that you are around a good bit that really annoys you? A husband, parent, inlaws, cousin or a best friend that perhaps has a little habit that really annoys you? I do!! I'm not going to name this person because I don't want to cause any waves in the family..hehe. But we have a member of the family that buys bananas and she always offers a banana to you when you visit. Sometimes you just have to take a banana--know what I mean? Well the annoying part of this is that this person heard on TV or read somewhere that bananas last longer if you cut the stem off! So now when bananas come into the house they are all separated from the bunch and all the stems are cut off close to the banana. This is all fine and dandy, but it really makes it hard to peel a banana and eat it. There isn't anything to pop open on the end and the banana ends up getting squished and/or bruised. I find this SO annoying! However, it isn't my place to say, "please don't cut the ends off the bananas". I'm sitting here chuckling as I type this because it is a bit humorous. I'm wondering how long this will last? Will the experiment prove itself to be true or false or is this the new way of life for bananas in this household?? What do you think? And do you know someone that has an odd habit that annoys you??

I know this is kind of old, but I ran across my pet peeve the other day. When people make noise when they eat. Friday is potluck day at work and I tell ya what. This person smacks their lips. It's like fingernails down a chalkboard ya know.

That is as bad as slurping! I hate to be at a table with someone eating soup for instance and they just slurp it on down! Smacking is right up there too! Bad manners!! Have a great day!

Tell her what I just read this morning. that is: bananas should be separated from eachother and when opened shoud be opened on the side opposite the stem. Then you don't have any of those little stringy things. This is the way monkeys do it!

Well she gets the part of separating them right! That's interesting about opening the from the opposite end from the stem. I'll have to tell her that. LOL. I guess we could call it monkey trivia! I love it!

My sister. Her couch has pillows on both ends. If you touch the pillow, she gets a look on her face. She'll get up, and push the pillow higher on the side of the couch becaus she says we squish it. It's a couch, but we can't sit close to the edge because she doesn't want her pillows to get flat. And she won't move them either. She said they are for the couch, and thus they should stay there. Just don't touch them.

In the three years I've had my couch, I've never sat on it Ambie. Know why? My two cats own it and give me a dirty look if I dare sit on it. So needless to say...uh, I'm a floor sitter too...LOL

Where oh where did she hear that about bananas? I would think they would turn bad faster that way. Anyway, my mother is no longer alive but one thing that drove me absolutely insane??? She had a habit of after putting about six pounds of sugar into her cup of tea (okay not that much but she did use a LOT of sugar)---she'd sit there stirring, stirring, stirring the tea about a hundred times, making that god-awful clinking sound with the spoon against the tea mug...like yikes...I think after the twentieth time the sugar has blended into the tea...LOL

Hi pyewacket! LOL, it sounds like your mother was a jolly old lady! Too funny! I can't remember if she saw this tip on TV on one of the food shows or read it in a magazine. She is always doing both! I thought the same thing, they would just ripen faster. She doesn't expose the banana, but you sure can't peel it very easy either.

Hey beach, I'm lucky that my hubby picks up after himself most of the time. Just smack him...or better yet leave them there. When he doesn't have clean clothes tell him that he should have put them in dirty clothes!

People who can't pick up after themselves. My husband never picks up after himself and it bugs me. He will change clothes and leave them right where he takes them off . A tee shirt left on the back of a kitchen chair. Shorts and underware on the bathroom floor , even his funky underware!! argggh! He also leaves dirty dishes sit around for me to pick up .. I tried going on strike and not picking any of his mess up , but it just made it harder for me in the long run , he still didn't pick up after himself . That's what bugs me. It's people being lazy and not picking up after themselves.

The habit that annoys me the most, is when someone says they are coming over, or that you are to meet them some where, and they are and hour to 1 1/2 hours late. This is always, you can set you watch by them. And they never call to say they will be late.

Arfff! I hate that too! I always try to be on time for things and I expect the other party to be punctual too! It's just the right thing to do! I don't think I would wait an hour and half for someone, I'd leave and go do something else.

That's bad! I guess some people have habits they consider to be normal behavior but others just find rude and gross. Actually after reading that I suppose I should say that most normal people would find that rude and gross behavior when staying as a guest is someone else's house.

I have this college friend who states herself as a "close friend" of mine.. although I don't feel the same for her. Her bad habit is sometimes she becomes very stubborn and expect impossible things.. She can't see the head or toe of a situation and just wants things to happen just like that. Well Ok her actual habit is she keeps on saying please please please like a stubborn a$$... until I surrender and do what she says. I think it will be very cruel of me to make her beg in front of me all the time. And yes one more thing she is very careless about time and on the other hand I just hate late comers This time it was my birthday.. I told them to inform me before hand about when they are getting free from there class so that I can leave from my house a little earlier so that I could reach college on time.. (though I tried to plan this out a week ago but every thing fails in front of her and her carelessness!!) She didn't bother to tell me when they were getting free and .. boom she calls me right after she got free and commanded me to be there in half an hour. Ok the distance including the traffic the place was quite far from my house but she kept on saying please .... please and please oh a gazillion times to make me come there!! So that I could come there on time.. how could I ?? She didn't tell me the time beforehand and I wasn't prepared and it takes more that half n hour to reach there!!! I really hate it when people doesn't see things with practical mind. There was no way I am gonna reach there on time and probably there next class could have started till I reached there to give them treat on my Birthday.. There are many more bad habit that I can't stand.. Like my father who talks very loud on phone and he has to make a phone call right when there is my favorite show's going on in TV. He will keep on shouting on phone leaving me hell annoyed!! I can't even increase the volume or he will get angry.. instead he makes me decrease the volume. Can't he just go in another room!!! Second is my dearly beloved brother.. who has to stand in front of the TV while I am watching it. He is 22 years old!! He forgets that someone else is also watching it from the sofa behind him. He will never move unless and until you shout .. and IF you SHOUT... oh then he will start dancing in front of me after learning how annoyed I am!!! I don't know what pleasure people get in annoying me. One of my friend actually admitted it that she actually felt very good after annoying me...

I hated it when my ex husband used to put his dirty clothes on top of the hamper or put them right next to the hamper instead of taking the time to lift the lid and place the clothes inside it. LOL I could never understand that.

That's a man for you! At least he didn't just drop them on the floor all over the bedroom and bathroom. I have to say that my hubby is good about putting his dirty clothes in dirty clothes hampers. His mom taught him well in that department.

"odd" habits don't usually annoy me much. Except for ice chewing. Something about the sound of crunching ice, just irritates me. What does really get to me, is less of an "odd" habit and more about bad manners or just plain being mean. Constant criticism and complaining are the things that really get to me.

What annoys me most about people's bad habits is littering and spitting in public. It seems that nowadays, more people are acquiring this bad habit and they have no qualms about throwing out their litter, phlegm or saliva in full view of others. To them, spitting is socially alright and they don't feel at all embarrassed by their action. It is the same for littering. People litter everywhere, even if there is a waste bin nearby, even within ten or twenty feet from where they litter. There was once I saw two workers going into a van, and as the van was driven off, the guy sitting next to the driver just unwinds the window, throws out a drink can which he just emptied, winds the window up and off the van went. I was just standing behind the van, and it appalled me when I saw the littering offense committed right before my eyes. Some people feel that since they pay taxes, and tax payers' money is used to hire workers to do cleaning, that gives them every right to dirty a place for others to clean up after them. That just disgusts me sometimes.

Oh littering is plain out wrong. It's against the law and I wish that there were more litter patrols to issue tickets and citations to those who trash the environment. Who wants to look at trash everywhere? I don't! And, yes spitting is nasty.

Hi there lexus54! That is a great idea and plan your city has worked up. If everyplace would enforce the no litter law then we would have a much prettier countryside from coast to coast.

We actually have strict litter laws here for many years, yet some people just don't bother and stick to their bad habits. So some years back, our government came out with Corrective Work Orders (CWOs) which require those caught littering to do some community work to instill in these offenders better behavior on littering. For these CWOs, they will be asked to do a certain number of hours of cleaning at public areas such as parks or beaches. Sometimes the local newspapers may zoom in on them doing their CWOs and highlight them in the newspapers. It is also a kind of shame thing, so it can be very effective. If you just fine people, some will just pay up and then go back to their littering ways.

What annoys me is when I call someone on the phone and after I say hello, that is the end of my conversation. they take over the whole conversation and I can not get a word in edge wise. I just sit on the other end thinking of a way to end the call. Spitting is another thing that annoys me. My husband and son does it. It seems as soon as they get outside, they have to spit. I find that so repulsive and gross. When my husband brush his teeth, he spits so hard it gets on the fixtures, I complain all of the time. YUCK!!!!!!!!

one my biggest pet peeves ever is when you leave somebody a message and they dont get back at you and you just wait and wait and wait hoping they'll remember to call you back. I dont know, it just irritates the heck out of me. I mean, I think it's basic decency to get back to somebody who was trying to reach you.

Lots, but we won't go there, as I probably have annoying habits myself. In the case of the unpeelable banana, you should just start from the other end. I have done that when the banana is so green the top will not snap. Do you know how many people find it strange for you to eat a banana from the wrong end?

This is a different kind of habit. I have relatives who will go out of their way to make sure everyone knows what is going on in their lives...either by putting it on their myspace page or anyway they think people will find out about it. That is exactly what they use the page for to spread info about themselves to make others jealous. They inflate everything. They make it bigger than it is. For example the part where Myspace has you check off what you make for your salary..they check off $250,000. They will never make that kind of money. They brag about the house they bought. I don't even think they bought it. I think a relative bought and they are paying rent. I remember a time when the one person was not even getting married but wrote that she was. Now she is throwing hints out that she is having a baby. This part of the family is very competitive. Everyone else is less and they are more. They are annoying. They live in a dream world. And they lie to no end.
