Yes, it is true. Either someone can't do math, is in denial, or is such a deceiver that it defies the ability of words to convey. What does this mean? Read this. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090222/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_budget I say that if 0bama seriously thinks he can slash the deficit in half after signing the stimulus package (Called porkulus by some!) he really is stupid, thinks we are, or has serious mental problems sufficient to warrant the Vice President to take over until he gets better. What do you say?

I don't get it, either. I would really like one of his supporters to do the math. After all, they voted for him. There must be something they know that we don't. Maybe I missed that day of math class. Enlighten me, Obama supporters!

I honestly believe the more fervant, ardent supporters of 0bama can not do the math. That's why they rely on HOPE, CHANGE, and the saying, YES, WE CAN! This is why 0bama can fool them.

1) His math is faulty - He is saying he wants to get our deficit down to $533 billion by the time his first term is up; which is approx half of the previous deficit ($1.2 trillion) which does NOT include the $700 billion financial sector bailout OR the $787 billion stimulus package. This total deficit is actually $2.787 trillion. To reduce that amount down to $533 billion he will have to come up with the money to run the country each year AND pay interest on the debt PLUS an additional $563 billion each year to pay down the actual deficit. IF he actually could accomplish that we would have no deficit one year after his first term of office is up. 2) He is insane - Repealing the tax breaks on people who make more than $250,000 WON'T accomplish this. Especially since he wants to increase spending on universal health care, education, alternative energy , etc., etc., etc. For him to actaully accomplish what he says he wants to do would destroy America as we know it. Of course, since he was so good at raising money for his own campaign, maybe he could hold a weekly telethon to raise money to pay off the deficit or have a web site for donations where all the proceeds go to pay off the deficit; but, I don't think he could keep up the necessary momentum to achieve his goals that way either.

Speakeasy, you said,"For him to actaully accomplish what he says he wants to do would destroy America as we know it". I believe you hit the nail on the head. That IS his plan, I am certain.

Thank you for the specific figures on this problem. Those who take the time to exaimine and think about what you have said are going to see 0bama for what he is.

sndcain36 - done - went there and posted this thedogshrink - and people mocked us when we warned them about Obama during the election, many are still mocking us and say we are "crying wolf" or are "racists". Personally, I don't care what color, gender, etc. Obama is; when a politician has poorly hidden agendas and trys to obscure them in popular speeches promising the world to everyone; he is still a politician and can't be trusted to carry through his speeches in a responsible fashion. I just hope that by the time he is finished, America is not a "third world nation".

Here's how you do it: You just completely ignore the giant porkulus of 787 billion. Then you can (theoretically only) cut the current deficit that bad guy, W, left poor, poor Mr Obama, in half, to 5xx billion. See? It's EASY! Like taking candy, from a baby. Now, if you include the porkulous, AND give 0bama that he can really halve it (ha!) then he will increase the deficit with the porkulus, from 1.3 trillion to two trillion eighty-seven billion, then cut it in half to one trillion forty-three billion five hundred million. So he would (in theory) actually cut the deficit by a mere two hundred fifty-six billion five hundred million -- nowhere near half. Of course, all this precludes the FACT that this administration has already SHOWN us they have no ability to restrain themselves, so how they will "streamline government" and "restore fiscal discipline" is beyond me!~ Heck, I had enough trouble with the trillions and billions -- when I was in school, a trillion was an imaginary number, and a billion was a ridiculously huge number.

As 0bama keeps putting his foot in his mouth on almost everything, even his followers must soon realize they have been had.

Oops! I thought the $700 billion bailout was included in the 1.2 trillion deficit! So these numbers are off by that much at least.

Could it be that Obama's war on small businesses is his back door attack to get everybody on gov't healthcare? I think a lot of the small businesses that are going to be affected by taxes will be doctors, dentists, opthamologists, etc. who own their own business.

Certainly, that is part of it. Don't forget 0bama raised a record $750 million for the campaign. That was big business and probably foreigners who gave him that money, not small business. So, who going to benefit and who gets the shaft? Look for really big business, certain foreigners, and big government to all be empowered during an 0bama administration.

I simply don't understand it. I didn't understand it when I heard it on the radio today and I don't understand it in print. Unfortunately we will all be subject to his "new math". On one hand there is the deficit inherited which the current administration says is a horror. On the other hand is the argument that spending is the only way to fix the economy. So if spending is the only way to fix it, why reduce the deficit at all?

It is all just double talk and deception. 0bama realizes the criticism of the stimulus package based on it being too expensive has merit. Therefore, to continue to fool his mathematically and management challenged followers and true believers, he has spoken the appropiate soothing sounding words to placate the nervous nellies that still believe in the ONE, 0bama! To wit: 0bamanut hears, " The stimulus package will bankrupt the country! ". 0bama says, " I will cut the budget deficit in half !". 0bamanut then thinks, " Why, that guy who said the stimulus package will bankrupt the country is just a kook !". 0bama is just dishing out, " Ludicrousness for the loonies! ".

It's simple... he is going to raise the taxes on the evil rich... at least that is what he claims. The stimulus package is only the beginning of his spending programs. Anyone who believes this BS that the 0bamunist is spouting is just stupid enough to have voted for him. I believe that he is deliberately trying to destroy our economy. As to the VP... that idiot is just as delusional as the 0bamunist is.

It would seem that 0bama is too smart to destroy the economy unless that was his intention. May God save us from people like 0bama who think they are so smart while being so intellectually dishonest.
