Hi friends... I have been hearing about blue ray disk these days a lot. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between a normal DVD and a blue ray disk? Do you feel that it will be better than the normal dvd? Is it released into the market? What would be its cost? Will it work on normal dvd writers or should we upgrade to a new device? Please give your valuable information. Happy myLotting...

I think that the answers to nearly all of your questions can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc In order to write to and read from a blu-ray disk, you need the correct hardware. Blu-ray is not compatible with normal DVD, though Blu-ray hardware may be able to read DVD and CD format, depending on the model. Since it can store far more data than a standard DVD, it is 'better' in that sense. The Blu-ray format, however, is less resistant to physical wear and scratches, so far more care needs to be taken of it.

^_^ Howdy! swaroopmsc!.... Blu-Ray Disc (or BD) Disk and Players are much expensive than DV disk and players. They are the newest optical media technologies. BD players use blue laser to read and write to the BD Disk. BD disk has the same physical dimension as standard DVDs and CDs. A two-layer Blu-ray disc can store up to 50 gigabytes. Were on a HD Dvd only 25 gigabytes. A 4-disk DVD movie or more can fit on a Blu-ray disk with no loss of sounds and movie quality. The BD disc can play only on BD players. BD players can play also DVD and CD.

bluray disc stores more information than dvd its better in the sense that it stores more data, so the video will be in high definition because high definition videos are bigger files yes it is already in the market depending which country you are living in my country bluray player is about 250usd no bluray disc will not work on normal dvd player yes you should buy a bluray device you can really see that its is more clearer, of course with your high definition TV
