Jobs in our area are pretty scarce. We live in a big city and there have been so many cutbacks, layoffs or what the companies prefer to say, downsizing. Unemployment is high and so is crime as a result of job losses. It's just so sad. I have a part time job with no benefits but it's a job. Something to do and I feel fortunate to still be in the working field.

I would be happy with a part time job at least.

from what I know the job situation is very dismal in my area as well. We are in a recession now, so nothing is for certain and many people are also losing their jobs as well.

There are very good opportunities in my area and i have been getting calls from various placements as well as companies from the past many days. We will not be charged even a single penny from the people who belong to the placements. I am also looking for a change but i really donot know if i can get enough good pay if i change my company now, so, i am just continuing the present job. Ofcourse there is recession every where, here even, though there is recession, there is also opportunity but the pay will not be so much satisfactory enough.

Hi moneymommy...I guess it depends on what type of job..There are always jobs in fast food restaurants, hotels, cleaners, and jobs in health care are in really high demand. We have a terrible shortage province wide of nurses and doctors. During the spring to fall, there are lots of jobs on farms that its really hard to get workers for. Our welfare system is too easy here and people just dont want minimum wage jobs even though we dont pay for health care here either. There are also a lot of call center jobs that are not at minimum wage but people dont like to do that either..whats up with that anyways? I always thought if you need money, and are able, you work!! When I was still very active in the workforce, the only job I wouldnt do was one of those girls standing on the street corners after dark..Ya you know the ones!!!..Im afraid they wouldnt give me change for a quarter!

I would love a call center job right now. Don'T know why they wouldn't want to do that. Fast food I quickly realized I can not do. My back is way to bad to stand on my feet for long hours. Like I said I tried but just cant take it. Not any jobs in my field in my area which is just so depressing.

There are quite a few open jobs here in my area. The city where I attend school is actually one of the best places to live and work right now because we're not being affected by the economy too much. There are so many schools, restaurants, offices and other places to get a job here, there isn't an excuse to not have any money if you live here.

Very good question as it relates with our current global economy slump period of time. In my living area not yet much effected, from what I heard, the only thing is most factory now no more allowing overtime works for their employees and at the same time do offer gratitude money to all senior employees as an option for them to leg off. Currently, most major factories heading their marketing to middle-east and asean countries.

Ther is a laor market not far from me, i go to take a look now and then, wishingto find a better one than my current job. I have found that there are always many occupations, and there are also lots of ppl attending it,it's just like a strange circle ,a contradiction.
