I was looking for a website that you could get books for little to nothing. i was thinking of sending them in care packages, and don't have the money to pay alot for them. i know amazon has good deals on them. just looking for different sites for a little more variety. thanks

Book Closeouts (http://www.bookcloseouts.com/) is a good place to find cheap books. They're all new books, just discounted. Also, Edward R Hamilton (http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/) has inexpensive books.

If you don't mind used books, try Freecycle. I've given away tons of books on there, some of them actually brand new. I used to actually buy paperback books even though I cannot read them because I stupidly thought my reading could be improved. But now I just give away books whenever people give them to me as gifts if they cannot just be returned.

There is a great site called paperbackswap where you can trade books. You list books you want to get rid of and when someone requests them you mail it to them. When they get the book you get a credit and then you can request a book. They have thousands of books on the site and I have been able to get about 15 books there that I wanted and each only cost me the price of shipping a book to someone else which is about $2.23. If you would like a link to this site PM me. They do give book credits for referrals.

I have been looking for sites off and on as I enjoy reading during the winter months. I also like reading series, and it's hard to find them all at one time, but I've come across www.thriftbooks.com. They sell them at cheap prices. Good luck in your search for sending them for your care packages for the troops over seas!

I really appreciate all the information from everyone on this subject of finding books at a low price. I never knew there were so many resources. Maybe that list of books that I want can be filled faster than I thought. I like to look for books at garage sales and estate sales. I have been able to collect sets of books by going to various sales and keeping track of what parts of the set I had on a 3X5 card. I was able to pick most up for ten cents or twenty-five cents. I later found out that the books I had collected were worth $30 to $50 each. I like them too much to sell them but if I find some duplicates, I might consider it. You have to be patient with this method but it is rewarding when you find what you are looking for.

I always watch for a local group in our area called The Friends of the Library to have their semiannual sale....these people collect used books from all over the place and sale them to raise money to buy new books for the library. This year they sold books by the foot, it was like 3 dollars a foot for paperback and 5 dollars a foot for hardbacks. I also look for mixed lots of books on Ebay. I have gotten some killer deals there. I have also bought books at yardsales for next to nothing and at thrift shops like the Salavtion Army and the Goodwill.
