i absolutely HATE IT! i mean its nice to know when a picture was taken BUT its so hideous! its usually in a tacky color and when i look at a picture my eyes automatically look at it and not the beauty of the picture.. i rather guess at the year than have to deal with it!! what about you? do you like the convince? or do you find it ugly and annoying too?

I would only use it if I have to document the image but, at most cases, I really don't like my pictures with details like that. It really ruins the image and I do agree with the resentment that you have for it. If I accidentally get an image with a date stamp, perhaps I'd use a photo editing application and try to crop the part with the date if not do a very good editing wherein the image is actually clear from that date stamp. (^_^ )

It seems that you really have to set your camera to have that date stamp feature disabled everytime you would try to take a picture.. I would always set the digi cam that I have to diable that date stamp feature as much as possible or else, editing would be the last resort.. (_

usually i have the awful luck of it appearing over a pattern or complex object to where when i try to edit it out you can tell (im very critical and notice little flaws as is so it wouldnt have to be bad for it to be a huge eye sore to me)

I don't think there's any problems if it's a digital camera? Anyway I haven't washed any photos from the digital camera up till now?Erm...did I miss something? You were referring to the washed out photos right?

i meant the feature that some cameras have that will automatically print the date and time (or just date) on the picture like in the corner in like bright orange text.. a lot of people think its so cool because then they can keep track of what year but its so tacky and ruins photos in my opinion but im picky lol

I occasionally do some mystery shopping. The task often requires a photo of the store to be taken. I use it then to prove that I was there when I said that I was. Otherwise I don't bother. It just messes up the photo. As you say - ugly. My shots are automatically put in date order on the computer anyway.

I have it turned off on my camera. It's annoying to me. I do use it when necessary (we just moved into a place we are renting, so before we moved in we set the date on the camera and took pictures of any damages that were made BEFORE we started living here). With digital cameras, I think it's easier to keep track of dates without using that feature, because you can date them in the files when you upload them to your computer. That's what I do, that way I know the date and don't have to have the stupid vivid yellowish-orange dates on the actual photos.

i always just date my folders if they are of anything other than just casual photos.. mostly because i have changed pc's alot in the past or have had really bad pc's in the past that liked to crash and when i would reload them onto my pc some times the dates would get screwed up.. one folder says it was created in 97. were there even digital cameras then!?!? i didnt even have a digital camera till like the year 2000!

I agree with you. The first thing I do with a camera is turn that feature off. I find it totally obnoxious.

I do not know but it has become a habit for us to put it there. I am quite forgetful about dates and seeing them in the picture reminds me of how old the picture is and gives a sense of history to the picture taken. But of course for professional photography it is not really good to look at.

I hate that time/date stamp feature also. I always turn that feature off on my camera, but I see people posting their pictures on MySpace and Facebook with it. I even saw one of my friends with wedding pictures with the time/date stamp, what is up with that?! Sometimes it's nice when you are looking through peoples pictures to be like, "Wow, that was 5 years ago, it feels like yesterday" but for the most part it is ugly and in the way.

When I was young I didn't have a digital camera I just had a 35mm camera. There was no option to add a date to the picture. I had a camera case that I kept my camera in and it had a little notebook that I put in there. Everytime I took a picture I would write down what the picture was of and the date the picture was taken so that when I got the pictures developed I could write the exact date the picture was taken on the back. That way I didnt have to just write a month or year I would know right to the exact day when the picture was taken. I think back now and realize I was either way to organized or a bit obsessive. Now my digital camera has the option to put the date on the picture but I don't want that. I don't want a beautiful picture ruined by having any ugly date stamped on the front. I hardly ever print out my pictures but if I did I usually can only estimate when the picture was taken to write the date on the back.

I hate it personally speaking. I find that it just looks so ugly, in my opinion makes the pic look demented.

I have to say that I hate it as well. I have so many nice pictures that are all but ruined due to the prominent orange glowing date/time stamp across the bottom. It took me a long time to figure out how to turn the stupid thing off, but I finally did it. I too would rather guess at the year than have that unnatural apparition in my pictures.

yep! and i hate having to use a computer program to edit it out.. because it seems it always is in front of something that is a pattern to where if you smudge it out its REALLY noticable

I have never used it when taking pictures. Because if you choose to use it and want to share your photos it is there, and it can be annoying to look at for sure. Not even sure why they have to include this option for sure.

Timestamps are hideous!!! I don't ever like to see them on photos! I've actually seen photos entered in artistic photo competitions that have timestamps on them!!! That looks so unprofessional! Digital cameras record the time and date the photo was taken in the EXIF data which you can look at on your computer if you really want to know when the photo was taken... You don't need to have it stamped on top of your photo as well!!!!!! It is not visually appealing in the least! So please, do everyone a favor! Turn off the timestamp function on your camera!

if you switch computers or your pc crashes it can change the date.. unless i had a digital camera in 97 i didnt know about lol.. yeah i would think they wouldnt let some one enter a picture in a contest with a date stamp!

I really don't like it.And I don't think the time/date of the picture taken is important.I can remind the spcial date and the moment in my mind and I just want to look at the beautiful picture. Good luck and happy mylotting.

i don't mind, just as long as it doesn't stand out. though i use a digital camera, so i don't get them on my pics. i did used to use a regular camera that adds a time stamp, but it was always tucked away in the corner and doesn't stand out among the rest of the picture.

mine seemed to always be too big and too bright to not be dominant in the photo
