Can God Survive the 21st Century?

While it is still politically correct to believe in God, the concept of God is changing rapidly. In people's perceptions, the monotheistic God of Abraham is changing to something that more resembles the God of Spinoza. Spinoza’s God is pantheistic by nature and does not interfere in the affairs of men. As this concept of God becomes more and more popular the question becomes, why have a God at all? A God that does not interfere in the affairs of men, does not respond to prayer and shows intervention in the nature of the world around us does not seem to have much purpose. If this concept of God becomes the norm, how long will it be until the whole concept of God is discarded?

The topic here is really pathetic it should have been can humans survive without god in any century? But still being a good person I will respond 1 humans need god 2 god has no needs 3 he can destroy us but we cannot harm him We need gods help the opposite of this statement is false God helps the believers and the unbeliever You do not believe in jesus but still have a computer to write against god this proves the love of god who provides resources even to non-believers Have a gr8 time Njoy

1.) Why do humans need God? 2.) Why does God require our worship if she has no needs? 3.) There is no evidence that God can effect the human species but humans can destroy any god by not believing in that God. The gods of antiquity have faded into myth and there is a good chance that the God of Abraham may suffer the same fate to be replaced by a new, more rational God. Why do you characterize me as a non-believer? I may not believe in the same god you do but that does not mean that I do not have my own conception of God and believe in that concept. Do I have to adhere to the same belief structure you do to be considered a believer?

We are spiritual beings not just physical beings only god can fulfill our spiritual needs while we maybe happy without God it is only by knowing god we can get the true joy fulfillment and peace. Claiming to be happy without a god is the same as a kid thinks he is happy with ps1 but if he tries a ps3 the older ps1 will be boring for him in the same way if you believe in god you get a sense of joy greater then the one experienced before (which you think is the best but in reality it is not) She requires our worship even though she has no needs ? From where did you get this idea that god requires our worship God does not require us to worship him but we need to worship him worshiping god is our need our requirement it gives us a sense of satisfaction joy peace ,,,, Worship relieves us from anxiety stress or any form of pressure we know God is there to help us guide us and of course God listens to our payers pleas and answers them For me jesus is synonymous with god if I use the word jesus,brahman,krishna...it means god I was trying to prove the love of god I do not label you as a non believer in god but you do not believe in the Abrahamic god if I call you a non believer in Abrahamic god does it hurt you You are a believes in your own faith and I am a non believer according to you I do not have any problem if you call me a non believer Have a gr8 time Njoy

Imaginary characters cannot survive. The survival of God will depend on the high imagination of man. As long as man will continue to day-dream and blindly believe what their priests tell them, God will be there. Actually, it is much more sensible to have a God who does not interfere in our affairs, who does not demand any worship from us. The whole concept of God need not be discarded. The truth has to be realised. The truth is 'Tao'. 'Tao' means 'The Way'. If you read Taoism, you will understand. Actually, Jesus also preached Tao. 'I and the father are one' only means he is the way, the Tao. Everything in this world is nothing but Tao.

It does not matter what people think or accept, that does not change who God is. God still is on His throne. God still hears our prayers and in this time we are seeing more and more of His power in our lives as we draw close to Him. What a fantastic time we live in to experience this.

I do not agree that God do not respond to man. He always respond to man but man failed to recognize those things.

God has no beginning and has no end, so therefore He will survived the 21st century and still survived even if there are no more people left... God doesn't interfere with the affairs of men, because He gave man a very special and different gift among His creations, it is called Free Will. He will only interfere if man lets Him. He doesn't answer the prayers according to man's expectations. Faith is needed to know His answer. God Speed to all.

I believe that when you have a God which is not true, then you are correct in your assessment that he will not survive the 21st century , But our God will be for ever and will last for all time, since our God listens to our prayers and shows us miracle, how can we forget him, we are luckier than others. God is all knowing what is in your heart. Thanks for your post.

If by God, you mean the Creator of the universe, then yes he will survive not only the 21st century but for eternity. He is the living God and He does take an interest in what is going on on the earth. In fact many of us are convinced that is intervening in mankind's affairs is not too far off at this time (no date can be given). We die but God will never die!

While there is a lot of anti religious sentiment I think it will be quite some time before people are ready to give up on God. Maybe about 5000 years. As long as people have problems that they cannot solve on their own they will continue to need someone to pray to.

A very interesting and well thought-out question. It is sad for me to watch more and more people adopt this viewpoint; in my opinion, if God truly didn't care about us and didn't interfere in our affairs, we would no longer be here. That would probably be due to the fact that it's one of God's miracles we haven't had a huge nuclear war and destroyed the planet yet. Judging from the many Bible passages that talk about God wanting our attention and so forth, I would say that If this view does become the norm, God will provide more reasons to believe he does care and is involved in our day to day life. And finally, the concept of God will never be discarded; God himself will make sure of that, and I will do my part to make sure of it as well.

god is in every one of us... if man can survive the 21st century then god will also not perished. as long as men toil as they live their lives to the fullest the concept of salvation from these toils is akin to the existence of god itself... man needs god and god needs men to eternally marked its divine existence...
