hello everybody here at Mylot. you never know who is going to have what that you need. most of you-all know that a couple of days ago, or a week ago now, that my clothes dryer bit the dust. well just yesterday, i was talking to one of my sister-in-law's, and guess what? one of her son's has a clothes dryer that works, that he isn't using right now. whoo hoo! what great news for me. so now, all that my hubby has to go do is pick up the clothes dryer and bring it home and plug it in. i washed four loads of clothes yesterday, then yesterday afternoon, my brother came over and helped me take all of the wet clothes that i had to the laundry mat to get them all dried. the dryer's around here cost fifty cents for ten minutes worth of heat. that is outrageous. so tell me, have you ever borrowed a major appliance from anybody in your family before? thanks for sharing and have a beautiful day today!

Hi, TnWoman... Glad you were able to borrow a clothes' dryer. I saw your posting about your broken clothes' dryer. I couldn't put any good advice nor a response on it cuz I don't use a dryer lol. I only use a spinner to let out most of the water from my clothes and hang them to dry . as for your current question, yep we had borrowed a major appliance from a relative before. I can't say it's an appliance but an equipment more likely. It's an electric pump to drain flood water from my granny's house after a strong typhoon. water and mud from the mountain came into out house plus fish from the sea near us hahahaha. There are so many debris and stuff that we had to clear them up before pumping the water and mud out of the house. eeekkk! the cleaning after is sooo hard lol... but eventually we were able to put things right in my granny's house... I was sighing over the fish we put into a big pail but we didn't cook them lol. we put them back out into the water since they are still alive hee hee The pump worked great though... thanks to our relative or we might have to bail the water out manually =P

Good for you on getting the dryer, I hate going to the laundry mat. I have no problem hanging clothes outside to dry, but it sure does make it easier to have a dryer, specially when you have kids. Lots of laundry when you have kids.

That is wonderful Tn. I had my old washing machine after I bought a new washer and dryer after my dryer went out. I tried giving my washer to anyone that needed one. I guess no one needed or wanted one for months. I finally gave it to someone along with the dryer and other things to haul off as scrap metal. He got a good amount for it all, since he and his family (10 of them in all) needed the money it all worked out for the best.

hi TnWoman! Wow, you are very lucky my friend! I am sure now that you will have an easier time with doing the laundry and drying them all. Yes, I did have borrowed my father's washing machine a long time ago when mine broke down. My father has two washing machines, an old one and a new one bought by my brother for him. I felt lucky too when he told me that I can have his old one and not to buy a new one for me. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots...faith

Hi TnWoman, That was brillant that your sister's-law-brother had one going and to give to to you, that was lucky. Few years ago my brother bought me one for Christmas, a big one at that and its still going strong, touch wood. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxx

In my family we pass around expensive items we no longer need. I gave my sister my very expensive tables and chair set that my parents gave me. I also gave her my TV when I moved. Nether would fit into my new smaller apartment. I also gave my brother my motorcycle the next time I moved. He in turn gave it to a friend to fix up and use. Why not pass things around? If I can't use it someone else can.

I'm so glad that this worked out for you. It always is a big help when things work out for you especially when help comes from an unexpected source.

That is great news! I am glad that you were able to find a solution to your problem. I have never borrowed a major appliance froma family member or a friend, but right now, I am in the process of buying my washer/dryer set from Rent-A-Center. In case you don't know what they are, it is a rent-to-own store. I will end up paying a lot more for it, but I don't have a lot of choice in the matter. Have you asked him about buying it from him instead of borrowing it? That way, it is yours and if something happens to it, you don't have to worry about deling with him over the issue.

Im glad you got a dryer!...What a pain when you dont if you are used to one, especially is the weather isnt always fit to hang them outdoors or you cant. Personally , I have never borrowed a major appliance from a relative or anyone and I dont think I would. I would always be too scared that something would go wrong and I would feel responsible. That would be the time the motor burns out or something and I would not want to cause bad feelings between friends or relatives, therefore I would not borrow anything from them at all! That is just my personality though, no matter how bad I wanted something, I would find another way, or do without it!..Just a wee bit stubborn!

That's great news for you indeed, Rhonda. You must be praying for a solution to your dryer problem, and now that solution has materialized. It will be troublesome for you without a dryer. Your brother can't be coming around often to help take your clothes to the laundry mat to get them dried, even if the price is reasonable. But will this dryer that you are getting be a permanent solution for you, or is it going to be on temporary loan only? I usually don't borrow any major appliance from anyone, not even in an emergency. If a major appliance like a washer, cooker or television breaks down, I will get quick repair done. If it is something not worth repairing, I will quickly go out and buy one. It is quite convenient to purchase items here because there are many shops around selling such items. I hope though that I never have to react to such emergency situations where quick actions are needed. ~ Victor

$.05 cents a minute for a dryer?! That's outrageous!!! I'm so glad I have a dryer that works. That was very nice of your nephew to loan you his dryer. It's getting more and more expensive to do basic life maintenance.
